I'm curious as to the brands and models of 4wd mowers available? This is due to the slopes on my new property. Presently using a small kubota tractor but takes a lot of time...

Dixie Chopper is the only one I know. It looks like a dune buggy and might be a blast to drive with a roll cage. Lawn mowing doesn't have to be boring!

I am not sure what your budget is but have a look at the Husqvarna 322T AWD. I believe this transfers power from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip. A lot of good reviews out the talking about how well this thing goes up slopes

This is actually called a Swedish Riding Mower and they have multi use with snow blower, aerator, dethatcher and roller and could be economical in the long run beyond their function and price. The reviews from people who have them seem to love them.

Yep, those Husqvarna "Articulating Riders" are very unique and the reviews I have read describe a golf course/ball field quality cut!!! Those and standers(like the Toro Grandstand) are very versatile machines!!!

I had actually spoken to the local rental company about trying one out... seems that this year they have been so popular that they are sold out, and even sold their rental unit. The salesman then offered me the opportunity to try his personal 322 as it turns out we don't live very far apart. I'm hoping within 7 to 9 days to have it tried out. The versatility of the machine appeals, and at this point it is the leading contender (would be nice to have a sweeper option. Don't see it listed though). The Dixie looks like a phenominal machine, but I think too much for a single purpose machine for me. Would love to try it out though.

I'm also thinking about a tractor (Kubota, LS or similar) due to their versatility, but I don't really want to be spending all my time mowing... We will see. I've heard there are some with 72" belly mowers now. I guess I have research in that department too...

If your thinking small tractor John Deere has a number of all wheel drive mowers in the X700 series, the X739 has AWD and 4 wheel steering which is great for tight quarters on steep slopes.

Wow. Nice machines. I think at that price I'd be tempted to go for one of the compact diesel tractors with a bit more $$$ though, and give myself additional options. Looks like an awesome machine. How do you like it?

I already have a compact tractor for loader and ground engagement duties but they tend to be a bit tippy on the steep side slopes for mowing and don't do tight quarters and low tree branches very well. The X739 is perfect for those situations plus you can bag the grass if desired. Front and rear PTOs, hitches and attachments are available for the X700 series if needed.

For the 13k price tag I would look at a Ventrac instead.

My JD X575 has no issues cutting on the slopes. Check out the 4X4 used market on the entire X575/85/95 family.

Great for pushing and blowing snow too. OK, so I did get stuck in 36" of snow just once!

Wow, that's a beast! 3,000 + pounds and a tall cab. Great for open areas but probably not the best for landscaped areas with low overhanging tree branches.
