I just got this machine and got it running, but can't get any throttle response. How are the hook and spring supposed to be placed with the throttle and air governor? I can't figure out how it's supposed to be without it binding up.
Mine doesn't have a cable on the bottom. It's just controlled by pulling the governor rod up and down according to the decals. I tried uploading a picture, but it says the file is too large.

Okay you a manual speed setup that not picture in the service manual.
The problem image uploads is the number of pixels. Your image needs to be reduced to under 1000x1000. Several online image editors can do this for you. Cell phone images are simply too large for this site as storage space is limited.
If you have no throttle control cable, I’m wondering if you have a constant speed setup. When you move the governor rod does it stay in one place or drop back down? Second question, when you move the governor rod does the engine speed decrease? I’ve attached a service manual which may be of some help. http://www.tuks.nl/WFCProject/img/E...210-Briggs-Stratton-Service-Manual-L-Head.pdf

It stays in one place. It has a little pressure tab from the carb bowl screw. I haven't been able to mess with the speed, because I can't figure out what is supposed to hook to what. I've tried like StarTechs picture, but it binds up and pops the hook out or doesn't retract
