20HP Intek - Found In Sump - Any Ideas?

Found in sump after governor/gear failure. Can't find shape/part in manual, parts diagrams, or in online resources. Local BS factory mechanic (he only does twins) said it may be part of factory tool or fixture. Any help would be appreciated as I'm not a small engine mechanic and hoping to not have to completely disassemble good running motor. Minor dings inside crankcase but no visible cracks in block. "G" stamped on one side/piece. Thanks!

That is the flyweight for the compression release on the camshaft. Time for a new camshaft. There is most likely a small spring and maybe a pin also laying in there.

Thank you!

No C/R explains hard starts from day one and repeated starter replacements by 2 local shops under warranty and 1 after...

You know it would help if you posted the model number when asking an engine question. There is at least two 20 hp B&S Intek engines vastly different.
