John Deere Z3w45 M with 22 HP Twin Ready Start engine has begun to surge, especially at idle or no load. Has good fuel, new air filter, fuel filter, and clean plugs. Starts easily, seems to run better under blades engaged load. .Any ideas? I'm 81 but was once a certified Briggs technician.

I'm leaning toward a dirty idle circuit in the carb... running better underload makes me suspect that, so a good carb cleaning is in order i believe.
