I have a 2018 Yard Machine bought last year pulled it out this year tried to start it and all it does is backfire and wont run when ya pull the rope

check oil level on dipstick, fresh gas in tank, check spark plug with tester for spark.

Backfire could mean water in the fuel. Remove the bowl and see what you see. if its shiny, cool, if its yucky, clean it out.
Just because you put new fuel in, does not mean you did not pour it on top of last years yuk.
