Just bought the mower yesterday and mowed fine. I don't like the front headlight staying on so I took off the housing to get to the light and there was the 2 wires for the light and what looks like an extra ground wire that isn't hooked to anything. Now the mower will not start. If I use starting fluid in the carb it will run till it burns it then dies. It just isn't getting any fuel. I filled the tank today as it was getting low. I have looked and looked and it seems that the extra wire does not plug into anything. But I need help with whether this wire does plug into something and that is what is causing the no start.

Check out you anti-back solenoid under the carburator it has an electrical plug in on it that i bet that extra wire goes to.

Dennis, the wire I'm talking about is under the steering wheel down by the headlight at about the same level as the deck. It is not even close to the carburetor.

I took the mower to the Dealer today. I didn't tell them about the extra wire because I didn't think this was the problem. The tech pulled out the fuse to check it and it was ok and then stuck it back in and then it started. Must have been some water or something causing the fuel shut off to not work right. They put some dielectric grease on the fuse prongs and also used it on the electrical connectors on the fuel shut. So far so good.
