Is there any appreciable differences between the 2014 and 2015 MT model tractors? Looking at the specs for the two model years, it appears that there is a slight difference in horsepower and torque. Is there something I'm missing?

Absolutely not, look over both visually & try them out. If you have a well established business mowing fifty or more properties a week I would say yes, otherwise no. Maintenance cost will be substantially more for the EFI over time.
