Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my turf tiger that I'm hoping you can help with. It's been sitting in the garage for a few weeks due to the grass not growing much in late summer. Today I went to fire it up, turn on the key, fuel pump buzzes to life, crank and one quick sputter, then nothing... just crank and no start.
I had a similar problem this spring the first time I got it out for the season, I attributed it to the fuel system losing prime and air trapped in the line. I pulled the fuel line off the injector and turned on the key until gas ran out, hooked it back up and that solved the problem. I tried that same thing today and just barely got a trickle out of the fuel line at first, and then nothing. The fuel pump sounds like it's running for a few seconds everytime I cycle the key, but no gas out of the line at all.
I know the mower is still under warranty, but I hate to call the dealer for something simple, Figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has a suggestion before going that route.
Your machine has three fuses, and if you have gasoline with ethanol, then in six weeks, the fuel can start to go bad without any fuel conditioner.
Otherwise, I'm not familiar with fuel injected small engines to make any positive comments about troubleshooting them. Scag wiring diagrams do not include the engine electrical system diagrams. Both Kawasaki and Kohler have changed the control systems on their fuel injected engines since they were introduced.
You possibly may try some fuel additive called Sea Foam as it has a digestive quality to it that sometimes can dissolve fuel bad fuel deposits and restore the system back to normal operation.
I just realized I never gave an update on this issue.
I checked all the fuses and went over wiring and connections last fall with no success, I finally just borrowed the neighbors mower for the last 2 cuttings of the season and left the Turf Tiger problem for warmer weather.
Fast forward to this spring, I uncovered the mower and was planning on just calling the dealer to take a look at it before the warranty expired, but decided to give it a shot just for the heck of it, hit the key, it cranked a couple seconds and fired right up! :confused2: I went ahead and did all the spring maintenance on it getting it ready for the season, have mowed with it 3 times so far, no starting or fuel issues whatsoever. Very strange that it seems to have fixed itself.

The tiger was just telling you who the boss is and he ain't mowing today cause it's too cold outside. You got a female tiger?...
Maybe the gas valve was not turned on?
Don't feel bad, mines a pussy cat too... I brought mine back to the dealer and it's been afraid to talk back now! (Mine had minor no start issues but never left me stranded. It just wanted to break my stones a little. The dealer changed the module on mine and fixed it up. )
haha that could be it. Fuel was on, tank was nearly full, pump was kicking on for a few seconds and then off as usual, but no gas out of the line at the injector unit. I was pretty convinced it must be a computer/module type issue, but if thats the case I don't know how sitting all winter solved it. Warranty is up in less than 3 weeks, hope it doesn't wait until then to give me trouble again.
