Hey All!

This is my first post here, And I thank you for your help in advance. I have been having a problem with my walker mower starting.

I checked the solenoid but the engine would not turn over.

I took two videos of what is going on, and it seems like there is some sort of a relay that is buggered up.

I just got it out of the shop for the same reason and they replaced the battery and some filters. It is still doing the same thing. The bill was over $200 and don't have any more money to spend.

Here is the video of it not working

Here is a video of the temporary fix.

If anyone know what part that is, and why it is doing it. Let me know!

Thanks!
Martin

I'm just going to take a guess and this is only a guess and I'm sure someone will be along to help you but it looks like it could be some type of safety switch that keeps it from starting when you have it opened up but this again I'm not sure good luck

Yeah, through research I think it is a safety switch. Here is the funny thing. It only cranks when it is OPEN. Wierd huh?

Any ideas?

It is the hood safety switch. There should be a post of some sort on the hood so when it is closed, it will close the switch allowing the engine to start.

That is the weird thing about it. The mower only starts with that swicth open! any idea why? I guess I could pull it open, but I dont want to disengage anything that is for safety. (Especially since I have a little one running around)

That switch is a normally open switch. When you insert the card you are closing the switch. You need to locate a part on the hood that will close that switch when you lower the hood.

Wanted to let you all know what I found out. There was a small contact that was shaped like an "L" a pretty thick piece of (1/4?) metal that was not making contact when the lever on the right side was put in starting position. had to mash it back down into shape to make it work normal again. Not sure how it happened, but it is fixed now.

Sorry for the delay

Thanks for letting us know, most people don't take the time to do that.
