This is a problem that developed at the end of last years season. The PTO switch overheated and melted would not engage. it started to cut in and out then it just stopped working. I pulled the switch and manually bridged or jumped the terminals to finish the season. I took the unit to a certified dealer and repair shop left it with them almost 3 month (Oct - Dec. 2013). They told me the battery was bad even though it was only used on season, also they replaced the drive belt saying it had stretched to much (They had changed the belt the previous year) causing the clutch to vibrate excessively. I used the mower for about 2 to 3 hours for the first time since they did this work and it did the same thing as before, I took it back and they tell me they cannot find a problem.. Question is if they cannot find a problem and I keep paying $45 to $140.00 for switches, belts and batteries to mow 2 to 3 hours How can I overcome this? I am up to my eyeballs in dandelions and weeds cause I need my mower and that is why I paid thousands of dollars for a mower. I mow about 2 acres ever 5 to 7 days March through October. Help anyone on this?

I operate a small engine repair shop. In the past 2 years I have had 2 Cub Cadets and 1 Troybilt with the same problem. When the 1st one came in I replaced 3 switches. After the 3rd switch I did some research. Found that the clutch was causing the problem even though there was no indication of it. After that I replaced the clutches on the other 2 and it repaired the issue.
