Hi.

Don't know if I could find this bysearching, but time a factor.

I have a 2004 craftsman lawn tractor, with a b&s 13.5 engine.

It just started stalling out on me.

it runs fine for a few minutes, but then sputters, and farts. then it stops. it seems to start ok, but won't stay running. It seems to be getting lots of fuel, and I cleaned, and recaped the plug. No good.

When it starts sputtering, I can keep it going for a few seconds more with the choke, but not for long.

I'm thinking its floodingitself out?

Lots of smoke from the filter housing with filter removed.

If someone can help, could you please e-mail me direct, I don't have a lot of time for internet.

Thanx so much. if you know a video link of the fix, tnat would be great.

Time to rebuild the carb. I suspect either a dirty jet or bad float.

Thanx mower addict,

Iwas thinking float, and that it was flooding itself.

Float will be fine. If float was bad you would leak gas out of the carb without it running or you would have gas in your oil showing your oil over full. The carb needs to be cleaned and pay close attention to the needle and seat. A lot of times the rubber swells and won't allow enough gas into carb to keep it full, causing it to run rough which would also explain the choke to keep it running.

Try running it with the gas cap loose. It could just be a clogged vent.
