2003 cub cadet sr-621 kawsaki engine starting problems

I have this model cub cadet and haven't found any info on this motor. It's ohv and I can't get it to start. When I spray with carb choke it almost starts but will jerk the rope back and back fire every once in a while...please help. I cleaned carb and replaced spark plug...
