friend's son has a Toro 20018 that has a twitch in it. As one is mowing the mower will twitch to the right a little about every 10' - 15'. I assume that this means the wheel on the left side is not driving at that moment. A while back I went thru both sides and replaced worn parts, everything looks good. Lifting the rear of the mower today and holding it up, after it did the same to me, both wheels drive strong without skipping. Both rear wheels were replaced previously because the teeth were worn, one was broken. I know these wheels have a history of breaking but these are genuine Toro and have less than 6 hours on them. I am thinking the wheel is periodically skipping on the grass or the wheel is broken again, but any other ideas appreciated before I pull that side apart again.
You are going to have to check the drive gear, drive key and spring. I’m guessing if the gear is not worn the key and spring are gummed up. Check this manual. https://www.toro.com/getpub/24719
