2000 Lawn Boy Silver Pro 2 stroker new carb needed

Model 10247 type/serial 200006838. Have to continuously prime it to keep it running and eventually it will run. This is one of 2 I have that don't want to keep running. I suspect a carb issue but I can not find a replacement carb only rather expensive parts to rebuild what I think is a problem. Also that flapper that governs needs a helper spring but for the life of me I can't find the PN. Was told once I need to get two springs to stop the run up and run down of the RPMs, a separate but aggravating issue.
My yard is about half steep hills and I need the 2 stroker to prevent burning up a motor. I am afraid now that they aren't made It is going to be an up hill battle, pun intended. :wink:

I might have a new one. Is this the one that bolts to a "reed valve chamber"?
Lemme nough and I'll have my mechanic look for it. (I am in Arkansas at the moment)

I really don't know. I have looked at countless web sites and called on several suppliers and all anyone can come up with are individual parts. I am not even able to ID the carb or maker. If you have one I sure would be interested. Please keep in touch. Email is kirkbrit@yahoo.com

I think you have a Dura-Force engine. If that's the case, the tendency to run lean may be a built-in problem.

I've never had one of those engines but I've read about those problems -- and solutions.

I'll certainly do that but your implication is this is not a good forum to discuss Lawn Boys. Why so?

Its a few minutes later and I'll say my problem seems to be a "classic". However, can you direct me to a specific forum where knowledgeable LB techs abound? I must have gotten a few 1000 hits doing dura force problem and have no idea which forum might be the better. Help?

Well please pardon me, I thought I did post to the LB forum :mur: DOH!

This is such a profound recurring problem I would think someone would have a real answer and possibly the link you sent is what I need to do. I am so frustrated trying to get just one of 4 LBs to work.

Lawnboy carbs are quite simple, yet most people don't actually "clean" them when they say they clean them. In most cases the problem lies in the main jet holes. To get to them (there are several) in the main jet piece, you have to remove the filter screen covering the jet, then with a flat-bladed screw-driver unscrew completely the jet from the plastic carb, and clean it with spray carb cleaner, and a thin wire running thru all the holes. Make sure carb cleaner comes out all holes when you spray it in bottom of jet. Don't forget to put the screen back on when you put it back together.
