I had a fuel problem, and I changed the needle valve and seat, and changed the oil and oil filter, and now it smokes and smells like oil burning, and it didnt do this before the needle valve messed up and flooded the engine out, what would cause the engine to smoke, oil level is good, and not to full, it smoked alittle before the needle valve and seat was changed, and I figured that was caused by the fuel dumping into the block, so I changed the oil and filter after I replaced the needle valve, and now it smokes, how long will it smoke. its a briggs and stratton 20 hp engine Inteck

When the needle valve floods the engine it is not unusual for gas/oil to get into the muffler. Barring anything else wrong, it may take a few minutes to get the residue burned out of the muffler, or other various parts of the engine.
