2 yr. old Troy-Bilt 6.75 walk behind won't start

I have a 2 yr old TB 6.75 walk behind with self propel. I had it in storage and had not used it for about 6 months. I brought it out to use it for the first time with new fuel and a couple pulls started it right up. I used it for my whole front and back lawn and ran ok, but seemed to power down during heavy mowing but got the job finished.

I went to use it again a week later and can't get it started. I figured it was time for the usual maintenance so I got the new filter, spark plug and new oil. Also got some choke/carb cleaner and sprayed inside. Pulled it and it sputters almost starting but then dies. I pull again and again it sputters only, then pulling does not much.

I checked the new plug and there is gas moisture on the plug, not dry. As stated, all things have been replaced - plug, filter, fuel and oil. Any ideas? Grass is getting tall!

Loosen, but don't take off, the bolt on the bottom of the carb and allow fuel to drain out for about 30 seconds. Tighten the bolt and try starting. I suspect you may have some water in your gas. If that doesn't work you may have to take off the float bowl and clean it. Before you do that post back.

In addition, If you "want" to remove the float bowl too, take some tag wire and make sure it goes through the main jet. Then use carb spray. When/if you remove the float bowl, BE CAREFUL of the gasket as some will distort.

Thanks for responding. I did as you said and allowed fuel to pass out of the bowl. I then tightened up and same thing. I had some time today so I found a thread with instructions on removing bowl/float and carb. The bowl did have some very small particles in it. I cleaned that, then took off the carb and cleaned entirely using thin wire and carb cleaner in the jets. All seemed fine. I emptied the fuel while the carb was off and when all back together I put half a tank of fresh gas.

Pulled the cord and same thing, a little chugging but no start. I put a teaspoon of fuel in the carb and it started right away until that was gone a few seconds later the same no start, but will fire for a few seconds when fuel is poured in carb.

What do you think? I appreciate the help!

Thanks, as I removed the gasket I saw it gave just a bit but still good. Had you not mentioned it I would be out buying another! I removed it all - if you see my post back to RIVETS - cleaned carb and jets but no luck. Fires only with a little fuel poured into carb for a few seconds.

The bolt you removed to take off the float bowl is also the main jet. Did you make sure the the holes in it were clean? Both straight through and down.

THANKS RIVETS!! I read your post and realized I forgot to clean the center jet. I took a wire from a twist tie, ran it in the middle, definitely felt obstructed, pushed it out, cleaned with carb fluid, pushed through again and then put it together. 3 pulls and it started up running fine and at the speed just like new!!
