take a clean piece to an auto color store and maybe they can get you something close in a spray can

I was looking for MTD snowblower parts and had forgotten to look for paint since mine has l ost a fair amount- they have several colors available at www.mtdparts.com and if you use the searcg bar, enter 'red paint', 'green paint', etc.

Also, Rustoleum has Farm & Implement paints in various colors.

Probably looking for the YardMan Green MTD PN 788-0665A

If I got the right IPL the hood is Troybilt Red 788-0638 and links are YardMan Yellow 788-0674 which is NLA

Kinda an odd color combination.

But note nothing going to exact match it was once painted due paint aging on the equipment.

Rustoleum shows Ace Hardware as a dealer, but the store close to me only has Ford Red.

Does this link help?

Well, Rustoleum Ford red ISN'T MTD red and the paint doesn't match the color of the cap, but it looks OK. If it annoys me, I'll buy some paint that's closer- the main goal was to protect the metal. It does look EXACTLY like the paint on a '66 Mustang, though. Crappy nozzle, though.

There was only 7 reds back in 2010.

Yes the Rustoleum is less costly but the MTD paint is a better match up and since I only use it touch ups after welding goes a long way. Costs about 3x the Rustoleum.

I was more concerned with getting it together before the next snowfall and it needs an end bushing for the auger, too. Then, the rear brakes on my van decided to go yesterday, so I now have more to do than before, when I already had too much on my plate. Also, money is short and I need to buy more brake parts.

Just be thankful it wasn't the transmission.

I was just going along my merry way when my transmission decided to self destruct. At first I thought I could rebuild it but once I got it out and apart it was going going more than a rebuilt from the auto parts house. Basically the only thing that wasn't damage was the housing.

Mine lost the flex plate as I was driving to work and I made the mistake of shutting off the engine because it was 20°F and I would be waiting 45 minutes for the flatbed and without the flex plate, it can't be started.

I sold something on FB Marketplace yesterday and the buyer looked familiar, so I asked where he works. He said it's one of the largest transmission rebuilders in the area- during the conversation, told me they had been sold to an investment group and the quality has gone down; he's not sure what will happen with his job.
