1996 Series C Snapper LT145H38CBV voltage regulator mounting?

I got this mower used about 15 years ago, the voltage regualtor mount had broken and it was just zip tied to the starter was zip tied to the starter. It looks like it was mounted to the plate shown which broke. I had to change the starter and want to mount this correctly, anyone have a photo of how theirs is mounted? Does it need to be grounded? I think not but I'm not sure.

Yes the regulator case must be grounded.

Take a strap of aluminum. Bolt regulator to the engine block. Duplicate what you see if your picture.
