1971 Sovereign, Mower Deck, drive belt replacement

I've never had a riding tractor, mower. Can anyone tell me the way to reinstall the mower deck main drive belt? I had to replace the blade belt, as it had snapped. Removed deck, cleaned, lubed, installed new blade belt, reassembled, installed. Problem is, I can not figure how to pull the mower forward in order to line up pins, after I installed the main drive belt.

At first I put the deck in place with all pins etc. Then noticed there was no way I could get the main drive belt on. So I removed the two front pins, pushed deck backward against tires. Installed belt. But now...how to move deck forward and lift to push pins back in??

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Look and see if the idler puuly has a way to release the tension on it.If so hoook the deck up and then reapply the tension. My 17ght-l has a lever in the back to release the sprng so you can put the belt bac on.Hope that helps Jed

Don't know if it would help, but here's a reference for an owners manual and parts breakdown, for 71 Landloard & Sovereign, 653, 654, 655 & 657 models. (perhaps yours is similar):

Don't have a reference for the deck however you could contact Basco, sure they could email you one.

(Make certain you have your model number & serial number off the tractor).
