Good Morning,
Newbie with 2 stroke engines but just picked up old rototiller (Hobby Gardner Model 1116) and can not find a manual anywhere. I read somewhere that the older Lawn-Boy models used an 16:1 ratio, the guy I bought it from hadn't used it in so long he's not certain but thinks it's 32:1. I was thinking of trying 16:1 and seeing how bad it smoked. Thought was if it didn't smoke really bad it would be designed for 16:1. If anybody knows the correct ratio, I would REALLY appreciate it.
Thanks

I'm guessing that the engine is a variation of Lawn Boy's mower engine at the time, the C-series. I believe they recommended 16:1 gas:eek:il ratio for that engine.

Keep in mind that oil technology has come a long way in 50 years so it's feasible to use a higher ratio because the today's two-cycle oil is better. I run 50:1 in all my two-cycle engines including some 1970s Lawn Boy mowers.

But the debate about these ratios is an endless one (check out the Lawn Boy forum for lots of discussion.)

And please post a photo of your tiller in the LB forum.
