Hi there....I have an old 1822D model Grasshopper.....It has the Kubota Diesel engine....My dilema....It wont start.....I have trouble shot the entire system and cant seem to locate the problem......Here is whats happening.......I can turn the key switch to start, and nothing happens...I can, however, jump across the starter, and it will start and run.....Trouble shooting the system, I have gone from the Negative post to the blue wire on the starter....I have almost 12 volts showing on a meter as I turn the key to start....no start....I have checked out the entire system for an open....from Position 50 on the key switch thru the fuses...thru the steering switches....thru the seat switch....all the way down to the starter relay....I have replaced the key switch, and the small relay at the starter....to no avail.....Im thinkin the only thing left is the solenoid......I am lost as to what is wrong....Hope you guys can help....Thank you in advance....Bob Geiger
I have a 321d and may have had a similar problem. When you hold the key to start (don't release it) does it run? This is what mine was doing, it would open the fuel solenoid when you went to start but it wouldn't hold it open when you released the key. I tested it by finding 12 volt constant when the key is on(not start) and ran a jumper to the hold wire of the fuel solenoid. Turns out it was the fuel relay which connects to the fuel solenoid.
