This machine was bought new, used for one season, then put into storage for 3 years.
I inherited it, and when starting it for the 1st tine, t smoked horribly, and blew a LOT of oil thru the exhaust. It saturated the exhaust system. I cleaned the exhaust, put in a new plug, and the same thing happened.
Friends told me the rings were probably stuck, and to put diesel into the plug hole, and let it set for a few days. Did this, now it won't even try to start! I've dried and dried the piston top with an air hose,. Cleaned the carb, but nothing! Its getting gas and spark-its supposed to run.Any help would be appreciated.

Your carb most likely couldn't hold back the fuel anymore and it leaked past the carb into the exhaust and or crankcase .
I could type a lot - but what shape is the oil - gasoline smell ?
