18.5 carb flooding

I own a mtd lawn tractor, 18.5 brigs eng, its hard to start, and floods the intake, spits gas out the top while cranking, help,

Make sure when you take the choke off it returns to the open position. I have run into a few this year where the choke sticks. If it does you need to remove the carb and pull out the butterfly and remove the shaft. Then with fine sandpaper sand the plastic shaft some then clean and reinstall it.
