Hi all, I have a craftsman riding mower...15.5hp OHV model 31C707 that starts & runs fine but backfires when I shut it down. Sounds like a rich fuel mixture or I've seen where it might be an intake valve. Thanks.
Update: found the air filter was totally clogged, and the spongy filter behind the main filter was plugged big time. Nephew claimed to have checked it. I told the wife we need him like I need a third cheek on my butt. Replaced filters, cleaned surrounding area and it works like a charm. Yesseree bob. Take care all.
