I have a Toro 22" Recycler mower with a Kohler 149cc (PH-XT675-2011) engine that suddenly started blowing oil out from what appears to be the gap between the 2 engine housing halves. No smoke from engine, and still runs, but pours oil out and blows it onto the deck. I have looked at all of the exploded diagrams, but see nowhere listed any gasket listed or pictures of the 2 halve apart. Yet they are bolted together, so they must come apart. Any help would be appreciated. Last 2 photos are after wiping down engine. Still appears to be a little seepage from the joint.

Before ordering any parts, determine whether the oil is coming from the sump gasket area or valve cover gasket area. To do so clean and dry the entire unit to remove all residue oil. If you don’t have a pressure washer, take a spray bottle with a mixture of heavy on the dish soap and water, Spray the entire unit liberally and let stand for three minutes. Then use your garden hose to clean everything, get down low to remove all that oil. Dry with compressed air. Now run the unit and watch for oil to show up.

Thanks. I will check that out. There is no leakage from the valve cover which is far forward of the leak as is the cylinder section. As shown in the images, this is where the 2 block halves come together. Is this something that has happened to others?

RTV Silicone Sealant Loctite® 5900® Heavy Body in 4 oz. aerosol dispenser. Only oxime-based, oil resistant RTV sealants, such as those listed, are approved for use. Loctite® Nos. 5900® or 5910® are recommended for best sealing characteristics

Thanks. I have used RTV silicone on automotive repairs, and I figured it would work here, but wasn't sure - it's been a while since I worked as a mechanic. It was the sump gasket that had failed. The attached picture shows the place where the failure occurred - it's wet with oil.

Engine used a gasket so you will need to go back with a gasket because it sets the end play of the crankshaft and camshaft. Part number 14 041 28-s
