Hi there new to the forum. I have a what i think is a 94-97 broodmoore simplicity with a 38" deck and 14hp vanguard V-twin engine. Ever since i bought it has smoked a little and progressively got worse. Not a lot of oil consumption but yesterday noticed it was even worse smoking. Can start it cold and within a minute its smoking pretty steady out the muffler. With everything iv read im leaning towards head gaskets. Anyone think im on the right track here? Im going to probably go out later and pull the heads off and see if the gaskets are damaged. Thanks in advance for anyone who responds

Run the engine up to normal operating temp, let it get warm, then shut it off and take the dipstick cap off, look for whisps of smoke coming out. If so, more than likely a bad head gasket.
