I bought this thing full of gas in the crankcase. Pulled the tank cleaned and replaced all hoses, filter with a shut off valve. Would only run with choke on and best with full choke with an occasional fart and would hunt on slow and die. Put on a new aftermarket carb. Pulled the plug and cleaned it and checked compression. It was at 90 psi in about 4 revs. Pulled the head and found the intake valve worn from the spring keeper but not broken. Put in a new valve, keeper and seal. Also found the intake push rod was worn, probably from the slop and bought a new one. Plastic intake seems OK but I could not get the plug out of the bottom to connect a gauge and didn't want to break it. I have not checked the govenor arm adjustment yet. The occasinal fart from the intake side and acting like it has a vacuum leak has me stumped. Yet I can go out pull the choke and it will fire right up, but take the choke off and it will hunt and die.
Parts lookup and repair parts diagrams for outdoor equipment like Toro mowers, Cub Cadet tractors, Husqvarna chainsaws, Echo trimmers, Briggs engines, etc.

I had an old Yard Machines mower I recently sold with a 13.5 hp Briggs engine doing the same thing. Tried OEM carburetor three different times after cleaning and messing with intake gaskets, replaced with another old carburetor I had after cleaning, same thing, only run right on choke. Bought a cheap Chinese carburetor and installed, and bam, she was great. Maybe try another cheap carburetor after triple checking gaskets.

I have another one coming. You can't beat Temu for giving you a refund when the thing doesn't work so you can order another for $10. When running on full choke the speed is increased so I am not sure what it would do if I tried to idle it down.
