Hello, I am rebuilding a 12.5 hp briggs and stratton engine. I line up the timing mark perfectly on the crankshaft timing gear with the timing mark on the camshaft. When I do this, my exhaust valve opens right after my intake valve does. Has anybody else ever had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Any solution would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Yes as it turns out, I was just turning the engine in the wrong direction. I feel dumb but its my first time. Hopefully other beginners can look at this and learn something.
