If you look at my very first post the 2 rings in question are there. There is a basically square ring and one that has a taper. So am I right the the taper rings is first and the square goes second?

I do but the rings are no longer on the piston

Hi all purchased a piston kit with rings from Briggs & Stratton but the top two pistons both have only one color strip. But one has a bevel on it. The instructions did not show any relevant pictures. Which goes first? The bevel or the non-bevel. I attached a couple pics.

anybody else has any insight?

thanks startech...where to go from here...is there aphine number to call briggs and ask them? Also 791097 looks right it does not have the rod with it, where as 590406 has the piston, rings and rod...now is that truly a fit...no idea

Hi all have a lawnmower engine and wanting to change out the rings, seems I can get the rod, piston and rings as a kit more cost effective from B&G, but when I look up the parts there are like 3 "standard" ones to choose from. How the heck do you know which of the 3 standard and the correct one...

Thanks cpurvis but trying to adjust a small engine with a generic car engine pic just won't work. You could be off by a lot on the timing.

Hi all took apart a lawnmower with a tecumseh engine ( TVS120-63920L) the cam has a timing mark the crank has none. It has no bevel, dot nothing. it is the type where the gear is pressed on. Even if the gear was mounted upside down you can't see underneath because part of the crank prevents...
