If the clutch on the drive shaft is malfunctioning; would that stop the engine from turning?

Engine seized??starter engages engine not turning, took both plugs out, top cover off, tried to turn by hand with a bar but it does not rotate just moves a couple of degrees left and right cannot get the engine to rotate fully by hand.

I presume a safety switch is stopping the mower from cranking, the battery is charged

I abused the original deck for years and it lasted, this new deck is not abused and has Not lasted,

It was the welds round the deck holding the skirt on to where the grass is thrown out. This deck is terrible when I replaced it I sprayed layers of Underseal on the inside and round the spindle mounts on the top of the deck. I dod clean it and leave it in the sun to dry. Now it has stopped...

replaced all 4 with new bolts from hardware store. Blue Locktite and 50lb/ft torque another load to bolts to check every week month.

Sir I have been trying to find the specs of those bolts for days.Thank you now to find someone here that carrys them.

Thanks for the reply. I found a part number and sourced them on a web site recommended on this site, HUSTLER 119539 - ENGINE BOLT KIT 4 bolts washers with locktite on the threads. I will have to disconnect the engine drive belt tensioner for one of them the other 3 look accessible.

2 of the 4 engine mount bolts have vanished. I think I can get a kit and replace them 3 are accessible 1 is not that bolt is going to be interesting to replace might just torque it if I can get a spanner on it.

Bought and installed new factory 42" deck to the Hustler 2 years ago, its already corroded and had to be welded! The original deck lasted 9 years of abuse. Now the deck needs welding again

amazing what the right part number does on a machine, fitted the two 603987's and the mower now works, no rubbing against the idler arm.

I engage the clutch at low speed then rev up when the blades are in the right cutting height. Thanks for the tip.

Same problem I changed a lot of engine components, it was the clutch kit worn out over 9 years of use, on my abused 42' Raptor, mine is a 2013 cutting 2.5 acres since new.

when I went to bed after posting the post I thought ARE the V's on the pulleys the same or is one deeper!!! Great minds Sir think alike. I emailed hustlerlawnmowerparts and asked them that question.The shop I bought my new blade spindles from has put the wrong pulleys on their spindle set...

I have found two different pulley numbers that fit on the blade spindles 603987 and 603988; the 603987 diameter is 4.75" the 603988 is for a 52" deck but cannot find the diameter; one site says 4.75; I have the 603988 pulleys I think well confusing.

the belt only rubs across the front of the belt keeper at the highest setting. NOW I have NEVER checked the belt rubbing before this!! SO it could have been doing it for a long time. EEK. I took the rear bolts that hold the deck to the mower, there is no fwd aft movement to change the belt...

all the parts I have bought are OEM,my model number is 931714 all the pulleys should be 4"? I will try to get photos tomorrow. item # 13 PULLEY 603987 item #15 idler pulley 604219 4" flat, I will have to double double check the pulleys I have.

new idler arm and hardware it did not work, the belt is still rubbing against the front of the idler arm with the deck fully raised! Now is it suppose to rub the idler ?? I have never looked at the belt clearance with the deck fully up!!

mower model number 931714, belt number 793828 length 116" the new belt is the same length as the old belt, the old belt did not rub against the frond edge of the idler arm item # 6 in the IPC, thanks for the info.

is the deck belt hitting the idler arm at the front of the deck mine has started to, it will shred the belt

Gents my 2014 42" hustler raptor which I have abused for 9 years,,,, deck belt is rubbing on the idler arm when the selector lever is at the highest cut setting with the PTO is selected. The idler spring is in good condition. It is not touching when the height lever is moved down to shorter...
