yardman rider shutting down when blades engaged

I think to start on most machines with brake set, PTO must be off and drive levers all the way out. To run drives and deck, brake must be off, butt on seat. This prevents personal injury or drive damage. My 2010 badboy has 5 relays...no one has a schematic!

    Non ethanol fuel question

A note of clarification, on my Kohler I run an offset key on the flywheel, giving me about 32 degrees of total advanced ignition. So the 93 octane is a benefit and I can mow at 2500 to 2800 rpm without my engine bogging and it runs cooler and more economical. Keep blades sharp!

    Non ethanol fuel question

I have been using 93 octane non ethanol in my bad boy (kohler 27hp twin) and all my small engines for three years. Carb problems went away, even in winter slow season. Fuel is cheaper than a new engine. Don't neglect routine maint like air filters, fuel filters and regular oil/filter changes...

2010 BadBoy ZT 6000, electrical problem

Hi Tiger' I haven't been to this forum in quite a while. I thought I had a wiring or safety switch problem. When I engaged the deck the engine would quit. I found that the ignition was still firing, so it had to be carburetor. Sure enough one the tiny low speed jets was clogged. I cleared it...

    Head gasket

Hi Oar, Here's what I did, it's lasted 4 years so far. Engine started to smoke once in a while, I knew Inteks had a bolt pattern (spacing) problem. The head bolts are also a lousy alloy. I went and got grade 8 bolts the same length. They weren't threaded far enough so I got a die and...

2010 BadBoy ZT 6000, electrical problem

I pulled them all and checked, contacts are making and breaking ok. Cleaned the lugs and sprayed the sockets. Will check the safety switches, wiring and connectors and tomorrow. I want to keep the safety functions in place.

    Kohler twin oil pressure

Using after market non OEM (Chinese) parts is a crapshoot. If the fail requires a complete teardown again or possible catastrophic damage I'll use OEM. External parts I'll give it a shot for economics. (I have more time than money)

    Kohler twin oil pressure

Battery power is great for hand power tools, but for cars and heavy equipment not so. The practicality is years away. When a great engineering company like Toyota declines to make electric vehicles you know there's a problem. Fossil fuel all the way for me.

    Kohler twin oil pressure

Thank you Sessman. I've seen estimates from 10 to 40 psi. Nothing specific is motioned in any manual or tech sheets that I've seen. I appreciate your input. Let's keep'em mowing!

    Kohler twin oil pressure

What you're saying is true. It's frustrating to see "No longer available" on a parts list, or you have to buy a whole assembly not an individual part. I think Honda's problem with the decompression debacle put them over the edge. Yeah, if you can get through the robot answering machine the techs...

    Kohler twin oil pressure

Thanks for your input Bert, having worked as a avionics quality control tech for years, I guess my perspective is a bit too altruistic. I still enjoy working on my equipment, and helping others with mower mending.

Thanks for your reply Star. I would think they would want people to know as much as possible to insure reliability of their engine.

    Kohler twin oil pressure

Hi folks, I have a 2010 Kohler Courage twin SV840-0012 on my BadBoy Z turn. I decide to put an oil pressure gauge on it. I reads 30 psi at startup. After warmup it drops to 20 psi at idle, and 22 psi at 3000 rpm. Is this too low or is it pretty normal? Any help appreciated.

    Head gasket

I had trouble with my 18.5hp intek blowing head gasket too. The head bolts were lousy alloy and kept stretching, so I replaced them with grade 8 bolts. This required adding some additional thread length with a die as the bolts weren't threaded deep enough, but the extra work was worth it. It's...
