Try a different dealer. There is a TSB about this. Honda has released a redesigned camshaft to correct.

I’m on my second mower, now having the same issue. Dealer replaced the mower after the issue wasn’t solved with the repair. Taking it back this week for a repair.

Got it. Well if it’s only kicking when there’s spark, it would seem that there is something off with the timing. Plug might be firing too early or too late..? Just a thought from my non-professional opinion lol.

Could it be the compression release? Had that issue with my new GCV200. It was replaced under warranty.

My new HRX usually starts on the second pull. Because these engines don’t have a primer, it seems like the first pull creates vacuum to fill the carb, and number 2 brings it to life. I do not mind 2-3 pulls personally. If it was that big of an issue, I would have gotten an electric start model.

They won’t care… they have zero incentive to. Take it to the dealer, don’t waste your time with Honda corporate. They are a $40+bn company. Your local dealer has more of an ability and desire to help you.

I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully the new one has been problem free! My dealer said it is likely an issue with the compression release. There is an updated parts kit that they have ordered to repair it. Fingers crossedb
