    Honda Owners Group

They released an updated cam gear. I had the same issue. Dealer put the updated part in, problem solved.

    Is the HRN worth buying?

I went ahead and picked one up. I read all of the reviews and watched the videos. I’ll post back my thoughts. Until I give it to him, i have an HRX217 and an HRN216 both sitting side by side in my garage. It looks pretty good, I have to admit.

Dilemma Between Honda HRX217 versus Other Options (California)

I purchased an HRX217 last August. I love everything about how the mower operates, but did experience the camshaft issue. My understanding is that Honda had an issue with one of their suppliers. They released a TSB that dealers have access to, as well as a redesigned part. They were also...

    New HRX217HZA with bad camshaft

Try a different dealer. There is a TSB about this. Honda has released a redesigned camshaft to correct.

    Is the HRN worth buying?

I own an HRX217HYA and love it. So much so that I’m looking to replace my father’s 15 year old craftsman mower for Father’s day. It’s that’s starting to show age and recently developed a hot start issue. Probably fixable but with Honda ending production, I’d like to get him something new...

    Brand New HRX217K6HZA

Quit trying to justify your actions on this one man. He was a huge help to a number of us, myself included. Now he’s in trouble with his company, and it seems like you were the catalyst for that. Just take the L, have some humility and admit your wrong. We had someone willing to help us on a...

    New HRX217HZA with bad camshaft

I’m on my second mower, now having the same issue. Dealer replaced the mower after the issue wasn’t solved with the repair. Taking it back this week for a repair.

    GX270 Kickback

Got it. Well if it’s only kicking when there’s spark, it would seem that there is something off with the timing. Plug might be firing too early or too late..? Just a thought from my non-professional opinion lol.

    GX270 Kickback

Could it be the compression release? Had that issue with my new GCV200. It was replaced under warranty.

Brand new HRX217 takes multiple pulls to start when cold. Is this normal?

My new HRX usually starts on the second pull. Because these engines don’t have a primer, it seems like the first pull creates vacuum to fill the carb, and number 2 brings it to life. I do not mind 2-3 pulls personally. If it was that big of an issue, I would have gotten an electric start model.

    New HRX217HZA with bad camshaft

They won’t care… they have zero incentive to. Take it to the dealer, don’t waste your time with Honda corporate. They are a $40+bn company. Your local dealer has more of an ability and desire to help you.

    New HRX217HZA with bad camshaft

I had a similar problem on my HRX217HYA. Will the engine turn over if you pull the cord hard enough? For me it was an issue with the camshaft and more specifically, the compression release on the cam gear. The engine was incredibly hard to turn over through the compression stroke. My dealer...

Brand new HRX217K6HZA hot start issues

I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully the new one has been problem free! My dealer said it is likely an issue with the compression release. There is an updated parts kit that they have ordered to repair it. Fingers crossedb

Brand new HRX217K6HZA hot start issues

Were you able to get this fixed? I have the same mower without electric start. It sounds like we have the same issue, very hard to pull and start.

    B&S 6.75 Sputter/Misfire Diagnosis

New to the forum and pretty much confused about my mower. I have a craftsman mower with a B&S 6.75 L-Head engine on it. Over the last year or two it's developed a sort of sputtering problem. It isn't losing much power, but there's a noticeable miss every now and then. Sometimes a few in a...
