    IF it has a Kawasaki engine it has a module M18 spark igniter on the side of engine block the coil ground goes to it, I found if it doesn't work the engine wouldn't start.

    Had that problem, one of 2 things connected to the battery, one the cables are corroded, lessen for a sparing sound when you turn the key to start, the other is the starter armature bearings worn causing the armature to the field winding making it turn slowly.

    Some of these mowers have a safety switch installed so if you try to cut going in reverse it kill the engine. Some are found by the shift lever or on hydro's by the reverser petal or linkage.

    Just did one on a L118, both motors are 23hp B&S, one is on john Deere and the other is on A craftsman. All I did wag swap the statter and flywheel, splice in the fuel line wire and the coil wire, unless you can get the pins out of the connector, and take the red wire, in my case off of the john...

    Mechanical governor inop

    The governor shaft,going into the engine block, is free but doesn't turn. When you try to turn it all you hear is it hitting some thing some where in the block.
