Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

I hear you. All I'm saying is, no one would care enough if I bypassed it. I'm not a repair shop. I'm just some Joe Schmoe trying to fix my own crap.

Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

I think he's joking. Who the hell really cares if anyone bypasses the fuel solenoid? There are plenty of youtube videos on it. Why haven't those been taken down by youtube?

Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

Thanks. I just watched a couple of youtube videos how to bypass it. I'm going to try that this weekend just to confirm that it is the issue.

Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

I don't know but I will test it. If it does not click, I guess it's bad? Is this a common issue? Can I bypass it somehow while I wait for a replacement? If it is clicking, what else should I look at?

Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

Ok, so I bought a 32 853 12-S carb from Amazon and installed it this past weekend. Installed a new fuel pump, gas filter, and a fuel shut-off valve. All came with the carb kit. I've never done a carb replacement before so took my time installing it to make sure I didn't miss anything or lose...

Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

Thanks for your input I'm ordering a compression tester. I am getting spark. I confirmed that using a spark plug/ coil tester. Previous owner said he had replaced ignition coil packs back in 2023. I'm going to take it apart the next weekend or so and will check the valve clearances. Do you...

Craftsman DGS 6500 - needs carburetor

Hello- I recently bought a Craftsman DGS 6500 fairly cheap. It has a 26 hp Kohler motor. It's in good condition but hard to start and runs rough. The previous owner says it needs a carburetor. I've already changed the spark plugs. Not much improvement. I've been searching the internet and found...

Ok thanks. I'll open the carburetor and take a look. How can I tell if it's good or bad? Should I just replace the carburetor?

    Poulan Pro - gas leak

My Poulan Pro Riding Mower - PP20VA46 is leaking gas. When I start it, gasoline comes streaming out from the exhaust, it looks like. This is after sitting for a few of days. The gas tank was full the last time I used it a few days prior. There was only a little less than 1/4 left in the tank...

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

FIXED!! It was yet another bad starter solenoid! 2 brand new solenoids from the same seller and both were bad. Damn these cheap Chinese crap. To be fair, I guess they're all from China. Quality control is non-existent. I gave the seller a bad rating for causing me this much headache and lost of...

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

Will do! Thanks. ================================================================= Update: I did exactly what you suggested. Solenoid is good. In fact, before I even did this test, I put the ignition switch on while my hand was on the solenoid and felt it engage. It's definitely not the...

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

There are 2 small contact connections on the solenoid. Which one should I jump or does it matter? Will I screw up the solenoid if I jump the wrong contact?

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

Yes, the solenoid clicks. I can feel it engage when I put my hand on it. The mower starts when I jump/bypass the solenoid. Same question I have. It's like I got off the seat while it was running. Could the seat safety switch be bad? How can I test it or bypass it?

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

You're right on the money. All of the above is exactly what happens. The starter solenoid is brand new. Now I'm wondering if they sent me a bad one. I didn't try to bypass it because I assumed it's good. I'll try that tonight. In the meanwhile, I'm going to order a replacement for it in case...

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

I'll have to put my ear close to the solenoid to confirm if it's coming from there or not. I was thinking it's coming from the starter but I'll confirm when I get home this evening. I ordered a PTO switch and should arrive tomorrow. I'll try that too.

Craftsman DGS 6500 - clicks but won't start

I have a Craftsman DGS 6500 riding mower. I was mowing along just fine when it suddenly stopped. It clicks when I turn the key but won't start. It won't even turn the engine. I did a quick test bypassing the starter solenoid by touching the 2 posts on the starter solenoid and it turned the...
