    Ariens Ikon X 52 w/22hp Kohler Courage - Rpms?

I believe it's a 2018 if it matters. From zero throttle to half throttle the engine is at idle at about 1600 RPMs. From half throttle to Full Throttle the RPMs increase to about 2600 Rpms (sitting still, pto not engaged). What should I be expecting on this mower? I feel like the throttle lever /...

    Kohler SV735 DSAM Bad??

The short video attached should explain it better than I can. Essentially I'm not getting 12v to my fuel shutoff solenoid unless I unplug the 12 volt lead to my DSAM. One thing to note in addition to what I mentioned in the video about unplugging the other leads to see if anything changed...

    Upgrading the stock 22hp to a 26hp? Pros/Cons?

I've got an Ariens Ikon X 52 that came with a 22hp Kohler Courage motor. And I have a 26hp Kohler Courage sitting in my garage. The motors look identical even down to the shroud. I'm guessing it's just a longer stroke or a slightly bigger bore to get that extra 4hp. So... stupid question I...

    2018 Ikon X with 2006 Kohler?

I just bought a 2018 Arien IkonX 52 and noticed that the Kohler Courage 22 that is on it has a "build date" of 1/31/2006. Anyone know if that seems normal? A motor that was built 12 years before the mower? Or should I assume this has a different motor than what it came with? Just curious really.

What would cause Hydro Transmission to bind?

The mower is a Gravely 260z with (let's just call it) a brand new engine/fuel system and for the sake of argument, a new deck/blades/pto. Engaging blades causes a momentary drop of a 4-500rpms but then quickly high idles again at 3400+. About 10-20 feet into mowing however (sticks forward) the...

Kohler Command Pro 27hp Connecting Rod Bolts Torque?

The Kohler manual says: Three different types of connecting rod bolts have been used and each has a different torque value. If 8 mm straight shank type bolts are used, torque in increments to 22.7 N·m (200 in. lb.). If 8 mm stepdown bolts are used, torque in increments to 14.7 N·m (130 in...

CV740 27hp bogs severely under average load

Can anyone help here? 😭 I'm absolutely baffled by this issue. I am now 100% out of ideas. The problem presents itself in two ways. 1. Within the first few moments of average load mowing, the motor RPMs dip significantly (about 5-10 seconds after engaging everything ). The greater the load, the...

    MDI conversion for ASAM CV740???

I'm completely lost here. Hopefully someone here has some deeper knowledge than I can seem to find. I have a Kohler CV740 (27hp) motor on a 2005 Gravely 260z. No plate on the motor, must have fallen off. I have a black "Smart Spark" box though on the side with the number 24 584 27 on it. And...

Kohler CV740 - good compression, leak down failed??

Kohler command pro 27. After warming up the mower I get about 160 PSI in both cylinders with my compression tester. But then, when I pressurize both cylinders to 50psi at TDC (poor man's leak down test) I get air hissing and escaping through the oil fill tube (cap off). Pretty fast actually, it...

Kohler CV740 ignition coil position at TDC?

Without pulling my flywheel to check the key, can someone tell me if this timing looks right? Pictures are of both cylinders at TDC. Motor bogs down under load. Motor has 170-175 compression. Fuel system is new front to back. Both cylinders are getting spark and pass all the Kohler manual ohm...

Gravely 260Z - Rpm's bog down when moving under load

Hey everyone. I'm new to zero turns but very mechanical in experience (ex Navy fighter jet mechanic). Got a used 2005 260z (Kohler CV740 Command Pro 27) for cheap that starts and idles (and throttles up and down) perfect. Sounds good sitting still. Even starts mowing like a bat out of hell for...
