    Belt routing trouble!

Thanks! Yes, I have both belts and will replace both. The top belt is no problem. It can only install one way. I noticed the idlers are the same, and are called out that way in the manual. I’ll give your routing a try, though I think I had it like they before the photo and as I’m the photo...

    Belt routing trouble!

Having trouble understanding and executing the main (long) drive belt routing on a 2012 Craftsman LT2000 247.288852 (MTD, Troy Built, others) I verified the new belt length against the worn out belt, so I know that I’m the problem. Of course I didn’t take photos BEFORE I removed the original...

16.5 hp Briggs and Stratton I turn the ignition switch and flywheel only turns 1/4 of the way around and stops. If I keep turning the key eventually

I would try removing the air filter and cupping your hand over the carburetor air intake. Try to start the engine. if it starts, you have a broken compression release.

    HEAVY smoking. Worth repair

I have a craftsman riding mower 2012 LT 2000. I’ve re-powered it less than 2 years ago with a John Deere/ Briggs & Stratton 19 hp single cylinder. On the first mow of the season, I hit some very tall grass in the engine bog down for about a second, then started spitting massive amounts of smoke...
