Exactly, yes. Changing the name of the parent company is one thing, but changing the well-known names of the entities under the new parent wouldn't make sense.

    Oil coming out fuel pump

What do you mean when you say you checked the breather valve? What were you looking for? What did you find? I guess what I'm asking is, how do you know the breather valve is good? What if you leave the hose off when it blows off? Does oil still come out of the fuel pump with that hose off...

    Kohler engines is no more.

For what it's worth, these are the companies there were under the Kohler Power umbrella when Platinum Equity made the purchase from the Kohler family last year. As you can see, it included engines, both gasoline and diesel, and Power Systems which was Kohler's generator and controls division...

Troy-Bilt Horse riding lawn mower, Kohler engine question

I agree. Run it. There really isn't that can fail that would stop oil from getting to that area. Like ILENGINE said, it lubes through vapor mist. And if it helps. #1 cylinder is the one closest to the flywheel.

    27HP Command Pro running issues

I know I'm a little late to this party, but have you found a solution? If not, look on the side of the carb for a round cover with one or two small rubber lines going to it. That's the accelerator pump. When you find it, if it has two lines, find the line that has the hard bulge in it. Once you...

Kohler SV600S starts and runs for 5 seconds and dies

Check for battery voltage to the solenoid on the carb with the key turned to the on/run position. Not all of the Courage single cylinder engines had oil pressure switches so that could be why you're not finding one. It sounds to me like you might be getting voltage to the fuel solenoid with the...

Scag Turf Tiger battery not charging

I guess to clarify, when you are checking for voltage at the B+ wire, where are you grounding the black lead of your meter? If you’re trying to ground it using the metal case of the regulator, then yes, a bad regulator ground could cause you to see no voltage on that wire. I always try to use...

Scag Turf Tiger battery not charging

The suspected bad ground would be if the regulator/rectifier is grounded. That would have no effect on DC voltage on the B+ wire.
  13. V

Scag Turf Tiger battery not charging

Until you get battery voltage to the regulator/rectifier ground makes no difference. Once you get battery voltage to the regulator/rectifier, take your voltmeter, ground the black lead and touch the red lead to the metal part of the case of the regulator/rectifier. If you read voltage through...

Scag Turf Tiger battery not charging

You need to figure out why the DC wire shows no voltage. It should always at least show battery voltage. Right now, you have no connection to the battery, and you can't charge a battery you're not connected to. The violet-colored wire runs from the B+ terminal of the regulator/rectifier...

Kohler Command Pro Single Cylinder Horizontal Lifter issue

No sorry. I wasn't saying the lifter shouldn't bleed off. They will bleed especially like ILENGINE mentioned if that particular valve stops in the open position once the engine stops spinning and puts pressure on that lifter. As far as how to adjust the rocker arms, there is no adjustment. You...

Kohler Command Pro Single Cylinder Horizontal Lifter issue

Depending on the model #, the head will have to come off to remove the lifters. If it will start after letting it sit, the lifter is probably bleeding down. I'd check the oil pressure before I didn't anything else. Again, depending on the model #, Kohler had a rare issue of too much oil pressure...

    Electricity just got confusing

Folks will argue that they do it all the time and never had one fail but what they don't realize is, while it may not immediately fail, they have almost certainly just shortened the life of that coil significantly. So now a coil that really should have lasted the life of the engine fails...

    Kohler Engine With Foamy Oil

I'm still curious as to how many hours were on the engine. I've seen homeowners who ran their equipment roughly an hour a week for 30 to 35 weeks a year. At 35 hours a year, times 23 years, that's only 805 hours. A well taken care of Kohler Command should run 3 to 4 times that many hours. Oil...

    HM100 no spark

This doesn't really help your situation but just FYI, that engine was built on the 270th day of a year that ended in 6, 76,86,96,2006. Tecumseh lets you guess which decade. It would probably be a little unusual for a chipper/shredder, but this wouldn't happen to have electric start would it? If...

    Command cv16s Not charging

Yeah that's right. I forgot that the oil pump was driven by the balance shaft. For some reason I was thinking the pump was driven by the camshaft. Does anything else inside the engine look worn? A couple of other things come to mind as well. With the rod cap being soft aluminum, I would think...

    Command cv16s Not charging

I haven't been inside a CV single in a long time, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, but wouldn't the relationship between the balance shaft gear and the crankshaft gear keep the balance shaft from being able to move enough to contact the rod cap even if the balance shaft bearing...

    Command cv16s Not charging

Sadly no. It would require a complete crankshaft. It might wear in and quiet down. Or it might cause some teeth to break.
  29. V

    Command cv16s Not charging

There does appear to be wear on the crank gear and virtually none on the cam gear.
  30. V

    Command cv16s Not charging

Do you think the camshaft was replaced? If the camshaft was replaced, and not the crankshaft, that can cause noise almost like a rod knock due to the unmatched wear on the cam and crank gears.

For the most part the engine sounds like it's running good. If you have an engine stethoscope that would be great. If not, this sometimes works. Kohler Engines ch26s on a toro 74240 (year 2001) magnets in fly wheel

You don't have zero and you don't have infinity so I wouldn't be concerned with 0.40. I'd also check continuity from each stator lead to ground just to be sure. With all the magnets being stuck to the stator they obviously didn't come off while it was running or you would have had the same...

I think I heard something like metal on metal in the first video as you were turning but have no idea what it could be. In the second video, I didn't hear anything that sounded like metal on metal, but I did hear what sounded like a bit of a muffled pop out of the muffler.

Installing New Vanguard 28EFI No fuel pump ground

I don't think anything in this connector would be causing the issue but to be sure, have you double checked that you got the correct pin orientation? The other thing I would check, and maybe you already have, is continuity from the ground at the fuel pump plug to the corresponding pin in the...

    Command cv16s Not charging

I based my response off of this info. 38 total volts AC tells me the stator and flywheel are fine. Now, 20 volts AC, 17 + 3 is of course a different story and says to me, bad stator or flywheel magnets. Regardless, it looks like the actual charging issue is taken care of and now it's a noise issue.

Craftsman LT 4500 26HP Briggs Stratton Intek Both Pistons not moving

Odd that both rods would break with no noise whatsoever, but it sounds like that is exactly what happened. Pistons not moving but valves are working pretty much says two failed rods. Worst case you need a short block. Best case is a less than proper fix (IMHO) of two rods and maybe cleaning up...

Darn kohler courage engines are such crap

In Kohler's defense, your own words say it's doubtful Kohler is at fault for this engine failure. "The Cub has had a rough life at the hands of its first owner. Tecumseh H50 straight shaft conversion

I don't believe the crank from the 65093F will work in your engine. Your engine shows to have solid state ignition and the 65093 shows having a point type ignition under the flywheel. That difference will more than likely cause the flywheel side of the crank to be different in diameter, taper or...
