I need a plug aerator that is reliable, sturdy and won't break the bank

I found an affordable and effective way to aerate. It's called "Air-8". It's a liquid aerator you apply to your lawn. Works great on clay soils like we have around here. A guy up the street from me uses it and swears by it. Must work, his lawn looks great. I understand there are granular brands...

I need a plug aerator that is reliable, sturdy and won't break the bank

Hi folks, Running around my 1/2 acre yard with my John Deere X570 lawn tractor tends to compact the soil, especially where I turn a lot. Yes, aeration, probably annually, is the answer. But..... The gas powered ones run over 10 grand. That's a lot of loot for as much as I'll use it. No, I...

What's the best fuel for the Toro Power Max 1232 OXHE?

That's the plan Gord. The manual only says a MINIMUM of 87 octane, it doesn't list a maximum. After scouring the internet I also found no mention of a maximum octane there either. Thanks to everyone for there replies.

What's the best fuel for the Toro Power Max 1232 OXHE?

Thank you for the reply. I would opt for the high octane ethanol-free fuel myself IF it won't damage the engine. Why am I worried about that? When I was younger I burned out the head in a 4 cylinder vehicle. I was told it was because I was using 94 0ctane fuel in it and that it burned too hot...

What's the best fuel for the Toro Power Max 1232 OXHE?

Hi folks, We just bought a new snow blower. The manual says to use fuel with not more than 10% ethanol. The low octane fuel around here contains 10% ethanol which would seem to be acceptable. The high octane fuel is available ethanol-free. It costs a lot more but that's not the deciding...

John Deere Owner Check-In --- Read This First!

I've been a member here for a few weeks or so now but just found the "welcome" thread. First time John Deere owner which is also my first yard tractor. The last thing I owned for mowing was a "big box store" Troy Bilt riding mower. As most here already know, the difference between a riding...

    Buying a first mower. Suggestions

Yes you're kidding.....BUT..... across the street from a friends house a guy bought a riding mower. No BS, the front yard is about 6 feet by 25 feet because of the driveway, shrubs etc. The backyard is about the same.

    John Deere Dethatcher/Aerator Multi Tool - LP39089

Hi folks, I'm thinking of purchasing a John Deere Dethatcher/Aerator combination unit, part no. LP39089 to be towed around by my JD X570. This combo would provide two pieces of equipment at a reasonable price. It would probably also pay for itself in less than two seasons rather than having...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

I would like to close this thread out with a big thanks to everyone who chimed in. I was able to let the grass grow to about 4 1/8 inches high with the recent rainfall. After mowing it measured about 3 3/4 inches high. This was accomplished by the dealer's service dept doing their house call...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

It would be nice if the factory did that, but.... why do that when they can save labor cost by passing the job on to the dealer? It would also be nice if the dealer adjusted it before delivery too, like they said they were going to, but... why do that when they can save labor cost by waiting...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

Well, I was being just a bit silly, but.... with a new tractor and all... I did mow today though the grass only measured just over 3 inches before and after I cut it. Even with the rain it didn't really grow. I did even it up pretty good though and it has most of it's color back so it should...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

Yes Mr. Parr that is exactly how I measure the grass. Thanks for posting it for the benefit of other newbies too. Bert, you are doing exactly what my lawn treatment guy says to do and why. Tall grass equals no weeds. Nice under foot? I've actually had compliments from people who say it's a...

WOW! A lot of responses today! I am glad to read each and every one of them. There's a lot of good info being presented here for me and others who may read this thread in the future. I agree. Any instrument that is battery powered may still work when the battery is not at full charge but the reading will probably not be accurate.

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

Thanks guys. Yes, Milton was a top rated one from what I read up on today. I'll probably get one of those too. Right now I had to get what I could without too much delay. The deck should have been adjusted and leveled when they were getting ready to deliver it. I specifically asked them...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

Well I know nothing is perfect but I want some semblance of accuracy. It's over $300 to replace just the rear tires so I don't want to ruin them by over-inflating them too much. If you haven't noticed, I'm rather new at this stuff with lawn tractors. I'm erring on the side of caution when I can...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

Raisin, thanks for the reply. I did find a gauge that goes down to less than 10 psi but it's junk. I checked it against one I trust on my bicycle tire. There was a 14 psi difference at 60 psi! Finding a tire gauge is easy. Finding an accurate one is nearly impossible. Can you recommend a brand...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

You have your facts correct as these are the tire sizes the tractor came with, per the John Deere website and the tire sidewalls: Front tires 15x6.5-8 Rear tires 24x12-12 turf If I could get another 1/2 inch it probably would be...

John Deere X570 Cuts Grass Too Low

Hi folks, new member here. I very recently bought a new John Deere X570 lawn tractor with the 48" mowing deck. With the deck height dial set at 4" it actually cuts the grass down to just over 3". My lawn is pretty new, bluegrass sod was put down 2 years ago. Cutting the grass this low makes it...
