    exmark quest

Did you figure it out? If not, are you sure you aren't getting power to the starter? Maybe it just seems like the starter isn't doing anything because the engine won't spin for one reason or another. I've seen this happen for different reasons: a seized PTO, compression release failure and from...

    CV15S cylinder damage

Thank you. That's all good information. I've never messed with boring out a lawnmower engine. I won't be doing this repair if that's required. I'll check for more damage.

    CV15S cylinder damage

Ok, I have one more question. Do you think I should replace the piston rings since I have to remove the piston anyway? Ok. I'll give it another look.

Thank you for the replies. Bertsmobile1, have you repaired an engine with this kind of damage before?

Briggs vtwin intek 20hp running on one cylinder

This sounds like a blown head gasket on the low compression side to me. Pull the head off.

    CV15S cylinder damage

I have a customer who has a 20 year old John Deere SST15 with a Kohler CV15S engine. He ran it without oil and, well, you know what happened. I'm trying to put a new crankshaft and connecting rod in it. However, when the connecting rod failed, it impacted the bottom of the cylinder and broke a...

    What am I doing wrong?!?!

So, here's an update. I removed the replacement crankshaft and the top oil seal. I removed the counterweights from the crankshaft. I reinserted the replacement crankshaft, timing gear and camshaft. I did not attach the connecting rod. The timing gear was still not level with the camshaft. I...

    What am I doing wrong?!?!

The key slots for the timing gear are the same. I do not have calipers to measure anything.

    What am I doing wrong?!?!

The date code is 120501 The second pic shows one of the replacement crankshafts on top and and bad one on the bottom. They both have that 352 number, but I don't know what that number means.

    What am I doing wrong?!?!

A customer ran his Craftsman lawn tractor without oil. Of course, the connecting rod broke and the crankshaft is not useable. I bought a new connecting rod and a used crankshaft. I've actually tried two different crankshafts and counterweights. I keep having the same problem. The crankshaft...

    RZT42 leveling deck

Check air pressure in your tires. Also, a slightly bent blade would do that.

    Fuel Selanoid

Could be the fuel solenoid. Could also be a clogged/dirty carburetor. Also, make sure you have good fuel flow in the fuel line. It could have a clog or there could be debris in the gas tank plugging the hole. You wouldn't believe the crap I've found in gas tanks!!! Don't get tunnel vision. It...

    Toro SS4260 timecutter burning grass!

I have the same issue with my zero turn Cub Cadet and it has a heat shield. I try to park on pavement or back up and put the heat shield over my river rock. It actually only kills the grass blades and not the crown, so it just grows back.

Husqvarna YTH20K46 with Kohler Courage (Strong Vibration and Hard Stop/Shutdown)

This is what I would do: 1) Take the air filter off and spray a small, steady amount of carb cleaner into the carburetor while it's running. If the engine smooths out and runs well while you're doing that, the engine is not getting enough fuel from the carb. Clean it or replace it. 2) Check for...

Husqvarna YTH 22V42 cranks but wont start

I'm not convinced that it isn't the carburetor. I would replace it. I have success with cheap, aftermarket carburetors +90% of the time. Also, make sure you're using fresh fuel.

    Hydrostatic pedals sticking

So you found the spring and it wasn't attached? If so, yes, I would say that is the problem. There has to be a spring on there somewhere to allow the pedal to return to the neutral position when your foot is removed.

C C tank 60” with a 27 horse Command loses power once you engage the Blades

Loss of power could be a blown head gasket. Run the engine for a couple minutes, turn it off, remove the oil dipstick and look for engine exhaust fumes drifting out of the crankcase.

LTX 1050VT will not turn over.

Agreed, if the starter is getting power and will not spin at all, you have a starter problem. You can try tapping on the starter with a hammer as a temporary fix. If that works, it's definitely the starter. You can also try yelling at it.

    How much should I ask?

It's a good sized mower, you have brand recognition on your side, maintenance is a big plus, appearance can make a big difference, not the best engine but it's better than the Briggs and Stratton single cylinder engines. I'd feel better if I knew how many hours were on it. One the low side...

    Fried starter module

I believe you are referring to the 3 pole ignition solenoid. You can use a screw driver to bridge between the two large poles on the top, just to get it started, but I do not recommend it. Just replace it...

Super LT1554 D54" Deck height adjusting questions

    1) send pics of the lifting bars. I'll look to see if something is wrong. 2) It's normal to be difficult to line up the pins to reattach the deck. Lifting and pulling the deck backwards is the correct procedure. 3) The belt is supposed to be loose when the blades are not engaged. 4) The front...

    uneven cutting

If one cutting strip shows two distinct cutting heights, deck level is not your problem. Look for a broken spindle (mandrel) and/or the deck itself may be bent at one or more spindle mounting points. A bent deck is often very subtle and hard to see. Remove the deck and look for variations in...

How to Push Exmark Zero Turn

Get your belly down on the ground, behind the rear wheels and look for a rod that pulls out. If you don't see one, look in front of the rear wheels. Gonna have to get down and dirty if you don't know what you're doing. You'll find it.

    LT155 hood exchange

One of the reasons I do not recommend JD to my customers. JD plastic hoods seem to be particularly brittle and easily broken. JD is a well known brand and they make good products, but you pay a price for that JD green.
