    Blown Engine

I does take much longer than a quick flip. I am probably looking at 2 – 3 years based on past experiences. It is more labor intensive (take it apart, clean the part, list the part for sale, ship the part or sell big items locally). Note I have been doing this type of work for 10+ years. The...

    Blown Engine

Based on how you describe your activity, I would get a different tractor that was more “Garden - GT” tractor vs “Lawn – LT” tractor. I think you need something with a stronger transmission and a larger engine for the type of hauling, grading, pulling you do. The Cub LT’s are not really equipped...

    Hour meter

A good question. I did just the same for 47 hour worth on my XT1. Interesting idea about possibly leaving it until it goes back to zero again if that is in fact what it does.

2009 Cub Cadet LTX 1040's Brake Pedal is Sticking with the Drive Pedal.

Here is a spot to lubricate, but I doubt this is where the issue is. My guess is you have grass clippings in the back portion.

XT1 losing power after 10 minutes

I wonder if you have a coil failing when it warms up on one cylinder? That could explain what you are experiencing. Next time it happens. Pull the spark plug wire on each cylinder and see if when you do it nothing changes. If nothing changes, that is the cylinder/coil that has issues.

cub cadet model #13AVA1CS009 runs fine for about 10 min, then starts running rough and cuts off. New carb installed. 18HP twin cam . sputtering and

When you start it back up, does it run fine for another 20 minutes? Could a coil be going bad and it goes down to one cylinder after it heats up after 20 minutes?

LTX 1045 Cranks but no start

I doubt this is it, but I didn't read where you replaced the spark plug. I had a plug on a tractor years ago that the spark was more like a flash (only way to describe it). Mower would not start or pop. I replaced with a new plug, started right up. Again, I doubt this is it, but worth a try...

Starting Issues on Kohler 20hp on cub cadet ltx 1045

I have CC LTX-1045 with a similar problems as you. I removed the solenoid from the back (under the frame to the left of the battery) and cleaned all the contacts/wires. I noted that the large wires going to it were not that tight on it. That solved my issue.

I would confirm your battery is good. The PTO needs a full charge to have it hold correctly.

LTX 1045 Voltage Display - Low?

I have found some additional information to help answer my original question. My battery now tests at about 12.7V according to my multimeter. The display reads about 11.7. Why the difference? Well the electronic display on the dash is using power as well as the two headlights. I unplugged...

Cub Cadet Owner Check-In --- Read This First!

Bought this, my first Cub tractor (LTX-1045 made in 2009) used in Jan. 2020 with about 2' snow on the ground in the mitten state. It was in great shape and only had 120 hours on it. Came complete with the double bag Cub grass catcher for it. Got it for $450. I have read mixed review but I...

LTX 1045 Voltage Display - Low?

My battery was low on my tractor. I put it on a charger and it appears to have come back. I measure the voltage on the battery and it is 12.6. When I put it in the tractor and turn the key on so the headlights come on and the display gives an initial reading, it reads 11.8. I have my meter...

Toro Personal Pace 20017 locked rear wheels

I hope this is appropriate that I jump on this thread and change the subject a little. I also have a 20017. My issue is one of the metal teeth broke off of of the rear drive wheels. That has caused two issues. One, it clicks a little when it hits that spot (annoying and not good for it)...

    New GT50 starter issue

I don't know what your starter looks like, but I have worked on many small engine electric starters. Typically there is a gear that is thrown (forward/Up) to engage the teeth on the flywheel. Many times the shaft of the electric motor and inside of the gear that rides on the shaft becomes...

How Important Carburetor "Plugs" - Gold Machine 10546 (1996 vintage) "L" type of engine/carb???

Ok, the link below is about a 2 minutes video of me starting it this morning. You should be able to see the video from my DropBox folder. Let me know if you can't. - It is about 40 degrees outside - You will see me turn on the gas valve and then fiddle with the controls - I prime it 3 times -...

How Important Carburetor "Plugs" - Gold Machine 10546 (1996 vintage) "L" type of engine/carb???

Right now it is 35 degrees. So I am starting to think what I am experiencing is normal. I will be heading out in the next hour and will try a cold start and note everything I do and how it behaves and report back. My gas is clean (sealed clean can - likley 10% ethanol) and relatively fresh <...

How Important Carburetor "Plugs" - Gold Machine 10546 (1996 vintage) "L" type of engine/carb???

I may try and post a video of it starting up. I can't remember how these typically behave. Here is how it is behaving: - I turn the gas valve on ;) - Note, it is 40 degrees out right now - I prime two or three times and pull it two or three and it starts - I usually have to push the primer a...

How Important Carburetor "Plugs" - Gold Machine 10546 (1996 vintage) "L" type of engine/carb???

Thanks Rivets, you are correct, I doubt that has anything to do with my issue. Maybe I need to turn on the gas shutoff.... That seems to have cured the issue. ? Although it seems to surge for the first minute of running, then it smooths out. Any adjustments I need to make on the...

How Important Carburetor "Plugs" - Gold Machine 10546 (1996 vintage) "L" type of engine/carb???

So I picked up this machine and when I prime it, it will start and then die, unless I keep priming. I have been through the carb 3 times. I have cleaned carbs before. I note that the two plastic plugs that cover the holes where you stick the screw driver to screw in the screws that mount the...

MTD 20” PowerMore 139cc Chinese - Engine Missing

Ok, I think I have it solved. I went back out and took the carb apart. Previously I had removed the emulsion tube and cleaned that and everything else on the inside. Well, I did not see or clean another jet on top of the carb. Not sure what that one is for (Idling possibly??) It was...

MTD 20” PowerMore 139cc Chinese - Engine Missing

It has a primer. I have done that and I believe it does smooth out. (Note, I just changed my previous post. I purchased a new COIL, not a new carb)

MTD 20” PowerMore 139cc Chinese - Engine Missing

I just removed the coil and checked it out. It seemed too close to the flywheel. I put it back on with a business card between the coil and the flywheel (which was further than it was). No change. I will try pulling the kill wire, but I don't think that is it. But I will try anything at...

MTD 20” PowerMore 139cc Chinese - Engine Missing

Well, I ran it in the dark and saw no sparks. While it was running I placed a screwdriver between the cap and valve cover. Nothing. No sparks, didn't change the issue. I also dosed the front and back side of the carburetor with WD-40. No extra smoke at all. My next step is going to be to...

MTD 20” PowerMore 139cc Chinese - Engine Missing

Thanks Tom3, I did try a different spark plug, exact same results. I actually used some black gorilla tape and "reassembled" the housing and will use that until I get a replacement. I was worried about the overheating as well. My next step is to go through the carburetor again and see if I...

MTD 20” PowerMore 139cc Chinese - Engine Missing

I picked up this cheap used MTD mower. I show it has the Chinese made Powermore OHV engine. I have done a ton of work on this to get it to the state it is in. It is more of a learning experience and “hobby”. Anyhow, my only remaining issue is it seems to have a miss. Carburetor and fuel tank...

Charging battery for a Gold Series 10546

I recently picked up a Gold Series model 10546 with electric start. The battery will turn the engine one rev. It needs charging and may or may not be good (likely not). However, I would like to charge it and see. I didn't get the charger with it. Can I use my car battery charger and put it...
