10 Year Old Raptor Bogging Down

Lead? Materials in a 2013 Kawasaki engine will be ethanol-safe. The problem with ethanol is that it carries water and it is the water which corrodes and gums things up. Vented, unsealed, small engine fuel systems will accumulate water. Water separates from ethanol-free fuel. Either stays in the...

    Hour Meter is Always On

Country Clipper enables the hour meter via the ignition switch but grounds through the oil pressure sensor cutoff on the engine to accurately measure engine run hours. If low oil pressure sensor is not available the hour meter grounds directly and measure hours the ignition switch has been...

    Hour Meter is Always On

That is not strictly true. The current draw to maintain a segment is very very low, but very very real. You are correct the current is higher to change a segment than to hold it. But they do need a battery and when it dies the display blanks. Nope. In a few years when the battery dies in those...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

"Almost every..." Hydraulic lifters slide on camshaft same as "solid" lifters. Vs the use of a roller lifter which costs more than a solid bucket. A roller lifter is essential on high lift cam lobes. Essential for high spring rates due to the added force against the cam lobe. But many hot rod...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

I think ZDDP is primarily a means for Lawn Mower Oil Salesmen to instill F.U.D. in consumers and "mechanics" to buy their product. ZDDP is something that eliminates automotive motor oils. Fear Uncertainty Doubt.

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

I didn't say that. I said, "high lift hot rod engines with solid lifters". Big difference. Almost every automobile on the road has solid lifters, even those with hydraulic lifters. But go to high lift and high spring rates for high RPM, the pressure on the camshaft is increased beyond what a...

    Hour Meter is Always On

That I have seen (not knowing your specific model) LCD hour meters are internally powered. The display stays on all the time even when all wires are disconnected. If you have only 2 wires then one is ground and the other is power. The meter counts when the power wire is hot. If you have an oil...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

ZDDP only protects when the oil film fails. High lift cam shafts in hot rods which do not use roller lifters need ZDDP oil changed every 1500 miles because the ZDDP is consumed in contact. So what I am saying is an engine which requires ZDDP oil is defective in design.

Exmark Laser Z - No power - feels like no spark advance

I totally disagree with your conclusion. Ethanol stays in gasoline until too much water pulls it out. Not the other way around. This is how we test for presence of ethanol: add water, shake it up, and if the “water” level rises then ethanol was drawn out of the gasoline.

Exmark Laser Z - No power - feels like no spark advance

The problem with ethanol is how it carries water in suspension rather than letting the water sink to the bottom where it can be decanted. Ethanol carries water into the fuel system where it can do damage from suspension same as not. Corrosion. Varnish. Etc. Ethanol will not separate from...

    Is an EGO better?

I briefly owned a new but unimpressive Toro Recycler. I have happily used an EGo 21" SP since 2016. No other poster on this thread has used an electric. You are not going to shave your thick grass with any mower if the grass is very tall. The solution is to knock an inch or two off at a time...

What was wrong with this mower?

NGK = No Good in Kawasaki. Yes, I agree NGK makes good product. In 10 years with that mower I didn't experiment with other brands of sparkplugs, I should have. Honestly blame the ignition on the Kawasaki not the plug. Yet bought a zero-turn recently specifically with a Kawasaki engine.

    Tire pops off the rim

So how much tear of the cords before the rubber holding air separates and lets the air out? I don't think it can be much. A tube will not keep a tire on the rim if it is "stretched" (if stretching is even possible) because the stretched tire no longer fits the rim. The O.P. needs new tires.

What was wrong with this mower?

Mid 1990s I had a Kawasaki engine on a John Deere 21" SP that did the same sort of thing. A new NGK spark plug would last 2 years, not 3. Sparked outside the engine but would not run. IIRC it would more likely start cold than restart hot. Once running it stayed running.

    Weed Eating Secrets Please.

I find a shoulder strap helps hold the trimmer and to maintain a semi-constant cut height. If you don't mind throwing money at the problem an EGo battery-electric mower with plastic deck weighs half or less than a metal deck gas mower. It will mow 45 - 75 minutes on one charge.

    Hours on a mower

T6 recently lost it's API gasoline engine S rating. The old T6 was a fantastic "fleet oil", equally good for gasoline and diesel engines. The new is not. The S rating had to be sacrificed to protect expensive diesel emissions equipment such as the DEF and SCR. Guessing some of the chemistry for...

    Hours on a mower

I haven't seen it on TV but I will agree detergent motor oils will keep an engine clean, probably not do much to clean a dirty engine. If you disagree then I suggest you consider how dark used motor oil comes out of a diesel engine. This is soot, pure and simple, being kept in suspension by the...

    Greenworks 60v riding mower issue

Uh, it is a riding mower and the blades stop but you can still drive it back to it's storage? Tire pops off the rim

I seriously seriously seriously doubt you can "stretch" a tire. As others have pointed out when a tubeless tire comes off the rim it is due to lack of inflation, or the rim has rusted to nothing. I think you are losing air. Might bandaid with Slime. 9 years you say? Time for new tires.

Can my catcher mower become a mulcher?

Yes! Believe my EGo height was set to 3rd highest of 4. Maybe 1/2" higher than most mow. The CC is currently set to 3", but I don't take that measurement as gospel. Is just the label on the mower for the height I found by trial and error.

Because the ZZ has shields not seals. Shields are open not sealed. I do not believe shields will be better for the O.P. because the problem with caged ball bearings is not "needs grease" so much as "grease got out something else got in."

Testing a hour meter from my Bad Boy Mower

I dug into the schematic of my Country Clipper and found the hour meter is driven by 12V from the ignition switch grounding through the low oil pressure switch on the engine. So the hour meter only runs when there is oil pressure.
