Grass isn't cut between the blades.

Wasn’t thinking your stripe was so wide. Your center blade is in front of the side blades, the cut overlaps but the blades can never hit each other. An uncut stripe can be produced cutting during a tight turn, Am agreeing with others your center blade is slipping on the belt, or pulley...

I don't think your new blades are as long as the original blades.

    Non ethanol fuel question

Water is in contact. Water plus oxygen makes rust. Clearly you have never disassembled a carburetor or fuel injector which which sat unused with water in ethanol gasoline. Ethanol gasoline phase separation is the ethanol + water falling out of solution. If only water fell out no one would...

yardman rider shutting down when blades engaged

I could start it just fine with butt in seat and PTO off with parking brake set. Agree, I think there is an interlock. Don't think there is a mechanical connection, but it sounded like the blades were wedged when I tried to start them. Doesn't really matter. Lesson learned.

yardman rider shutting down when blades engaged

Uh, I did that the other day on my Country Clipper. Parking brake was set. I don't know why the engine cut out when I engaged the blade PTO just because the parking brake was set, but it did. Guessing it is a deliberate design decision.

    Non ethanol fuel question

The product is called Heet, and it is primarily ethanol. So ironically today people are complaining about that which they used to buy and deliberately add. Because it was better to suspend water in gasoline to get it out and through the system than have it puddle, freeze, and block fuel passages.

    Non ethanol fuel question

And ethanol allows the water to carry in the fuel, exposing the entire tank not just the bottom. This is the problem with ethanol + water in carburetors. With pure gasoline a drop of water in the carburetor kills the engine. In ethanol, it simply leans the mixture, but probably goes right...

    Non ethanol fuel question

Ethanol is not "destroying tanks". In 1984 I had to buy a new gas tank for my Honda motorcycle because it somehow had over 3/4" of water accumulated in my attached garage over the winter. Formed a nice line of holes through the tank at the gasoline/water line.

    Non ethanol fuel question

Ethanol is not good. But isn't The End Of The World. The problem with small engines is the simple fuel system exposed to moist air. The problem is in how small engines are often left out in the weather. Ethanol-free gasoline still accumulates water, but the water doesn't mix. The water can be...

    Non ethanol fuel question

Air gets in automotive fuel systems, it just doesn't flow in and out getting replenished with fresh moisture. And then there is the 2004-2009 Prius whose fuel tank consisted of a bladder/bellows in a plastic case. Very little air volume over the fuel. As fuel was consumed the bladder collapsed.

    Non ethanol fuel question

The only harm ”from” ethanol is that it carries water in solution, then carries that water into the carburetor. If allowed to sit it will do nasty things. No additive or treatment does any good. Small engines have ventilated gas tanks, open to the atmosphere, open to collecting moisture...

    Non ethanol fuel question

Just buy E10 from a high volume gas station. Only buy a month or two’s supply at a time. Don't store the can on cold concrete because cold fuel with warm moist air condenses moisture from the air no matter ethanol or not. 90 octane (sic) won’t hurt anything, won’t help. When engine is designed...

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

Yes, that is why they didn't last very long. Flooded lead-acid batteries wear very fast when subject to a deep discharge. Lithium-ion doesn't like operating at full charge or low charge but is very happy in the middle. LiFePO4 costs less than lithium-ion, likes a full charge and discharges don't...

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

That is the old Craftsman trick of "upgrading" to higher battery voltages every few years. Sears sure is a success to be admired! EGo did a very good job designing one battery, right, the first time. Everything is 56V, and the same connection is used for all.

    GOODBYE TO ELECTRIC

The EGo battery warranty is 3 years. Am still using my original 7.5Ah from 2016. The worst thing you can do is leave it on the charger 24/7. Second only to leaving it out in freezing temperatures. My 2013 Tesla Model S 85 still had 93% of it's original battery capacity remaining when I passed...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

The GL1800 was built in Marysville, OH. But if these "rice burners" can thrive on the not-really-reduced ZDDP then why not a US-built rice-burner Kawasaki at much lower RPM? My point is that if excessive ZDDP really is necessary that it is a design defect, other engines of much higher...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

Zinc isn't limited by the EPA, it is phosphorous which is limited. Zinc only because they choose to use ZDDP in motor oil. Most "automotive" motor oils have 700-800 PPM of ZDDP. 1500 PPM becomes acidic so even the "zinc rich" oils are limited to 1100-1200 PPM. You ain't looking. Air cooled...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

Every motor oil has zinc in it. Most every engine ever made has (by your definition) “solid” lifters even those with hydraulic lifters. The issue is whether the spring rate and lift of the cam and RPM drive pressures great enough to push through the oil film. This just does not happen in power...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

Neither Kohler nor Kawasaki have published a specification of what they expect of an oil... other than the video on Kawasaki's site saying to look for a genuine API rating and how they also submit to JASO for real testing (a snub at Shell who self-certifies a JASO MA rating on certain varieties...

RPM for a 22" residential push mower

I don't think HP/torque is the primary concern about RPM. In general the cut is better at higher speeds, so while the big deck of a rider has it's disadvantages the faster blade speed over a walk-behind has advantages.

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

I would suggest EGo over Ryobi. Ryobi electrics appear to be rebranded Greenworks. EGo uses one battery mount for everything, string trimmers, chainsaws, push mowers, and zero turn riders. If unused for 30 days an EGo battery will magically self-discharge to 50% (on purpose) to protect itself...

Gas Caps do seal out any condensation from entering the gas tank, despite the arguments here saying they do not

I can't read 6 pages of this thread. Small engine gas caps breathe. Necessary to let air in when gasoline is used by the engine. When temperature changes some air in the tank leaves when it warms, fresh air enters when it cools. Ethanol in the gasoline extracts moisture from the air in the...

Long ago I had one of the last Homelite 21" SP mowers with cast aluminum deck and about 4.5 HP B&S engine. 1988 I believe. Purchased from Monkey Wards just as the business was collapsing. The oil fill/check was a long tube and dipstick. With fresh oil and oil splashed up the tube (especially...

You don’t get the same oil regardless of brand name. There are few manufacturers of base oil, but that alone does not meet SAE/API specs. There are also manufacturers of the additives necessary to make a complete SAE/API certification. Each brand decides what use. The SAE/API certification...

Battery powered Weed Eater, Which voltage is preferred or has an advantage?

Voltage is almost irrelevant. Manufacturers use voltage to coax consumers into paying more. "Bigger numbers must be better! Right? After all the higher voltage tools cost more!" The higher voltage tools cost more because manufacturers decided to make more expensive tools, and use higher voltage...

Mulching blades that can still actually lift grass?

Best mulcher I have used was my first, a Husqvarna SP that was purpose made for mulching. It had a donut deck, high and rounded. 10W-30 is thinner than 30 weight at room temperature but the same at 212°F, at which point it is even thinner.
