Okay, this is going to be weird. Rear-engine goes too fast.

Hello VPF, Most shop newer small engine shop techs have never worked on the older rear engine riders, so that would be a waste of time and money. Is first gear position actually that fast or is it the sudden lurch forward that is surprising you? The clutch is pretty sudden on these, so the...

    Adding Transmission Fluid?

I recommend you replace the drive belt along with the stationary and idler pullies. The single speed F/R transmission in these old riders were bullet proof. They used a light grease and not a pour in fluid.

Craftman 5000 Watt Generator hard Starting when Hot

Sounds like a sensible plan. Hope it works for you. As a temporary idea to test the theory use a wad of fiberglass house insulation and wrap it in heavy tin foil or tin foil tape, then shoved in between the side of the block and the carburetor, especially at the carb bowl area.

    kohler carburetor problem

The after-fire solenoid is in the bottom center of the carburetor fuel bowl. Often times the connector pins are a poor fit, especially on aftermarket carburetors. Turn the key on without cranking the engine, a faint click is usually heard at the carburetor if the solenoid is working. If no...

    blades won't egage

The PTO switch is possible, but all the PTO wire connections need to be checked and verified good with at least a visual inspection and a test light to see if it has power or where it is losing it. John Deere X360 Backfire and no run.

2 stroke longevity - how many hours

I've got some 40-year-old 2-stroke equipment that I can still rely on. It's all about proper fuel/oil mixture and fixing the little things before they get out of hand. I use non-Ethanol fuel in my mix.

    blades won't egage

Mowers break even at 110 hours. It may be a simple connection issue or a rubbed wire problem. The switch is possible if people have been yanking on it too hard. We need the product identification number off the label under the seat. There needs to be some simple testing done.

Hi Darrel, This machine was made from 2008-2015 according to the web information. No one knows for sure it needs and engine until it is properly evaluated by testing the compression and checking the fuel system. Most shops can easily do this in an hour. It's way too premature to say it needs...

Hi StarTech, That is what we get on open forums like this. Gratification is a rare occurrence. Craftman 5000 Watt Generator hard Starting when Hot

One thing that comes to mind is fuel percolation in the fuel bowl after shutdown. All that post-shutdown engine heat directly effects the carburetor. Triplex Hydro Reel Mower Parts Availability

If you are planning on longevity and parts availability commercial grade specialty mowers are not the way to go. HRX 217

I would try 10W30 and see if the problem clears up. Why? because straight SAE30 has almost no additive or detergents to soften and remove built up carbon deposits from the rings. It may take a couple of oil changes, but I'm sure it will resolve some of your issues.
