    This is exactly what happened to my B&S 25HP. Those intake push-rods are designed to fail if anything goes wrong like valves too tight.

    A proper mulching kit will have walls and ramps under the deck around each blade to direct the grass back in to the blades along with also blocking the discharge.     I checked the other head and the lash is off. I don't know by how much but a 0.008 feeler fits easily so really loose. I took out the rod on this side and it looks fine.
