Problem is most the time there is a left handed monkey wrench involved somewhere.

First lets check some model numbers. Not finding a 13A726JD060 Coming up with 13A726JD066. Also check DOM doesn't match the Serial number date of February 15, 2018. But if using the 066 model number appears to be the 7T84JUA MTD engine. The base of the air cleaner housing should have a...

Best estimate will be 2-4 hours.

The 77 522 21 short block posted by the OP used the 47 010 06 camshaft which includes ACR. So compression release is present

I deal with a lot of elderly customers without the means to bring their own mowers. I don't pickup or delivery smaller handheld products or pushmower size products, unless included with z turn or rider style mower pickup/delivery

You are right. Third party extended warranty companies can be brutal. Have to approve which shop does the work. Have to wait for the shop to diagnose the issue, and submit an estimate. Wait for third party to approve the estimate and in some cases ship the parts to dealer at no charge. And...

Bent crankshaft. Doesn't take much to create vibration. And I would recheck that flywheel key. Because doesn't have to be off much to effect runnability.

cubbyman. This time of year when all the shops are getting very backlogged and trying to get extended warranty on a box store item. Which by normal shop flow standards for most larger shops put you about a priority 6 repair. So around July time frame would be about right. I am a one man...

I would about confirm that the spline part is the wheel bushing that has come out and has seized to the shaft may have to apply some heat or maybe even grind the splined areas down to get them to release from the wheel height adjuster.

Some idiot thought it woud be a good idea to use the paper gaskets with the plastic intake manifold and was creating an air leak at the heads.

go to Amazon and do a search for tecumseh 632675b

My Tecumseh distributor doesn't show any in stock, but doesn't show them as NLA either. Found a couple on Amazon that appear to be OEM for what looks like a decent price.

The 500032C uses the 632675B bowl assembly The 500023B doesn't appear to be a correct number so may want to recheck that number. Those style carbs were never really designed to be disassembled and rebuild, Designed to be a remove and swap the bowl assembly without removing the carb body from...

That is the vector vlv carb Really need the actual model and spec number to confirm which bowl kit that carb used. some used bowls with different colored emulsion tubes. Further research shows it could be the 730637A bowl kit

Maybe partially, but it seems like lack of demand seems to coincide with companies doing financial restructuring. And that is across all brand manufacturers. And at one time all these companies that are claiming lack of demand gave up the market that is now filled by the sub-compacts. At one...

And for a few hundred more you can move into a BX1880 with rear cat 1 three point hitch, rear 540 pto and all the attachments at additional cost that are available plus loader, backhoe, and belly mower(all at the same time).

Was it lack of demand or part of the Briggs bankruptcy kill off the extra brands to say they are saving money but in reality just stripping the company of assets and getting ready to move on leaving what's left is tatters. Tractor style mowers are basically on the way out across all brands of...

Have worked on a generator that has 5% bypass when tested with a leakdown gauge, but compression gauge showed 5 psi. Have come across several out of the box Briggs push mower engines that had 30 psi before even being ran for the first time and that was the old L head engines.. So compression...

Some play would be normal due to how the rim is mounted on the axle will allow some movement as well as the snap ring on the differential end of the axle can have some play also. And unlike a vehicle the axles are just riding on bushings for bearings not tapered roller bearings.

Here is a picture of the typical washer under the governor gear used on your style engine, and the one I tend to see.

Other than a few brands such as Kubota the seat switch is not part of the start circuit. Only the parking brake, controls levers on z turns and the pto switch. The seat switch comes into play if you engage the pto, release the parking brake, or pull the direction levers inward to move the...

That spec number is actually the part number for the K301 short block. Kohler doesn't give compressio readings for that engine due to the operation of the ACR compression release.

This may sound like a dumb question. But since Kohler has made several 12 hp engines over the years which 12hp engine do you have. Model number helps alot.

I suspect you are looking at the wrong issue. All your symptoms point more to a issue with the seat switch.

If you removed the flywheel and checked/replaced the flywheel key, did you get flywheel retightened to proper torque. Otherwise it could of sheared the new key on first crank which will cause a no start, but have you thinking it is something else.

Having something wrapped around the blades shouldn't effect the engine turning over unless you forgot to disengage the deck and the engine is trying to turn the deck also.

Need to check for spark after the engine starts acting up to rule out an ignition module that is failing while hot.

The shaft wear can get to a point were the starter teeth will jam agaist the starter and potentially break either the starter shaft or the teeth on the ring gear.

Never used it but need to be careful especially on dosing, And make sure the additive is compatible with air cooled engines. I have seen some automotive additives that turned the 10w30 engine oil into #2 grease when used in air cooled engines.

That is just it. the true garden tractor line has been replaced with sub-compacts using cat 1 attachments instead of the old cat 0 garden tractor implements.

Demand didn't go down, the new garden tractor have names like JD 1025R and Kioti CS2210H and MF 1GC.23 and Kubota BX2380

The true garden tractor market really started dying in the 70's with people getting away from gardening therefore not needed larger yard tractors, and was quickly followed by the introduction of compact and sub compact tractors that were more capable than the previous version of garden tractors...

For people doing a follow up. this mower has the MTD branded engine. And to the OP holy crap they give the OEM carb away. NOT. I can see why you went aftermarket. Most of the time a surging engine points to a carb issue that is causing the engine to run lean. Usually involving the idle...

Series of questions. Did you use an OEM carb or a chinese aftermarket. When engine does your mower have by brand name and model number so we can look at your engine. Also if you engage the blades does the engine smooth out or keep surging.

Could be the Amazon grinding disc, or could be the blade you are grinding. Back when I was using a commercial blade grinder that used a wheel I had glazing issues when grinding John Deere blades. JD blades would gum up the grinding grit and would need to be cleaned after every blade. Not so...

The white nipple should have a small metering hole in it. And as mentioned before nothing connects to it, and never has even in cases where the parts diagram shows hose that connects to it. The design with the open white nipple has been working with the present primer setup since its...

@slomo The issue isn't the filter coming loose. The issue is the sealing gasket is loosing its compression due to thermal cycling. So the oil filter is becoming loose without the filter turning.

The issue isn't us oiling the sealing ring at install. The issue is the manufacturer using oil to seat the sealing ring onto the filter and part of that oil getting trapped below the ring and coming out later, removing any compression of the sealing ring. But it isn't just lawnmower oil...

Air filter looks 7000 series Kohler replacement for the Courage Twin. Engine has mechanical tappets, which I would suspect needs valve adjustment. Engine may or may not have ACR. And the starters were always a weak link on that style engine. And to the OP the starter gear moving up and...

Actually you found the not used connector that has been asked about for years. The theory is the plastic vacuum like nipple on the right middle of the carb suppose to be used for a remote primer. And to make things more confusing, some parts diagrams actually show a hose which doesn't actually...

Have you had this mower since new, or something that was picked up from another source. On the PTO switch there should be 8 pins. 2 rows of 3 pins and the bottom set with 2 pins. With the PTO switch in the off position the left and right side contacts should have continuity on the 2 rows of...

Been seeing this issue on both the Kohler and the Briggs filters over the last few years. And even have had a few that were torqued to the proper Briggs spec to also come loose enough to start leaking. Issue seems to be related to the installation of the sealing ring having oil under it...

Most auto reset after 2 hours of run time.

Don't forget to consider something unrelated could of happens like the belt came off of a pulley. Just seems strange that it worked before the oil change and then quit suddenly afterwards. Most of the time the pump doesn't just quit. It will give signs of giving up the ghost first.

Did you do a proper bleed procedure on the hydraulics after the oil and filter change. I am thinking it may be air locked and will need to be properly air bleed. On most mowers this requires jacking up the rear wheels, puling the bypass, starting the engine and slowly moving the directions...

The newer Briggs OHV push mower engines with the plastic carb use the primer to push air into the fuel bowl which in turn forces fuel up the emulsion tube into the carb venturi. I would replace that supposed gas with some reach frech gas and see what happens. The after 2015 Briggs OHV push...

Could the afterfire solenoid on the bottom of the carb being acting up when hot. There was an issue with some of the early courage single used on MTD mowers were the muffler was too close to the carb and was actually shorting out the solenoid and is some cases burning the wires off the bottom...

Have to be careful with some of the chinese aftermarket carbs on some engines because the throttle linkage in the carb is set up backwards. So the governor can think it is closing the throttle to limit speed but is actually opening the throttle.

Being 15 years old I will assume it is the Kohler Command engine. If so the valves are not adjustable due to using hydraulic lifters.

You should hear a faint click from under the carb area.
