    Ultima Z2 60" Zero Turn

Check the transmission to chassis bolts. There have been a lot of them come loose in recent years. The manual assembly labor workforce that care about their actual work is getting less all the time. You can never pay a lazy person who is well fed enough money, they just want more to do less work.

Suddenly stopped, fuel leaking from bottom part of carburetor

Hello T., Posting multiple times for the same machine and issue is annoying because it creates clutter. Many folks will simply avoid your postings. Post one machine and problems at a time and edit as needed in the same posting. Remember we are trying to help people and doing it for free when...

    Briggs 422707 opposed twin carb

Hello C., Glad you got it figured out. This is the way many things get resolved if you have the determination to see a problem through to a solution. I've been a technician for 40+ years, and I still call on fellow techs when I get stumped.

    Briggs and Stratton won't start

While you are that far into this, make sure the fuel tank is clean and the screen in the bottom (inside) is not gummed up and blocking the fuel flow. Modern fuel tends to gum up when it ages due to all of the refinery additives.

    Briggs 422707 opposed twin carb

Hello C., (More thoughts) From my automotive training many years ago, one thing that has stuck with me is the ideal fuel to air ratio number of 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel. If enough air cannot get in the fuel bowl as the engine is demanding the fuel, a cavitation effect can take place. The...

    Briggs 422707 opposed twin carb

Hello C., "Nothing ventured nothing gained" is a saying that seems to fit when no one can provide a direct answer. I suspect many people have either lived with the running issue or gave up. Aftermarket carburetors are a luck of the draw, and many have gotten better over the years, but they are...

    Cub Cadet model 13A-201F100

A manually adjustable automotive style inline fuel pressure regulator placed between the carburetor and the fuel pump would resolve this issue. As Star Tech indicated, these carburetors only require a very low PSI fuel pump to operated. A typical parts store automotive electric pump produces...

    Lower crankcase sealant

Never seen Honda Bond turn black before. I'm talking about the white version Honda has used on their engines for many years. The next sealant suggestion is Permatex #2 in the tube, it takes a little bit of time to fully cure but it works great. From there I use Permatex Ultra Gray and give it...

    Lower crankcase sealant

Use Honda Bond sealant and you will never have another oil leak. Of course, it will be hell to ever get apart later if needed.

I'm referring to only one cylinder head at a time. There are two valves in each head. Only adjust the valve lash on one head at a time. Teryll Fixes all has a good example of adjusting the valve lash in one of his videos.

I think you are pushing the design limitations of the transmission and possibly the drive belt is also slipping a little from a weak tension spring.

    Briggs 422707 opposed twin carb

Do you understand that these aftermarket carburetors are not a direct replacement, they are made to fit multiple applications? The B&S opposed twin engine was used on all kinds of different equipment applications. The two bowl vents drilled in the top of the carburetor cover are so a variety...

    Encore Blows Fuse

Are you sure the new switch has the same letter ID at the pins and the old one that was on the machine? I've seen wrong switches before. Briggs 422707 opposed twin carb

Hello C., What does to top of the original carburetor, where the air cleaner mounts look like? The 3 larger holes on top are threaded to mount the air cleaner base. The small hole is just a fuel bowl vent. That hole should always be open and line up with the top of the carburetor vent. From...

    GGP 452 engine loses power

I've dealt with quite a few this year that had debris sticking in the fuel pickup tubes and fuel lines. The pickup tubes & lines had to be blown clear with shop air or replaced. Grass clippings, dust and/or debris/water from a dirty fuel can often takes years to build up in a fuel tank and then...

Briggs and Stratton Intek v-twin 20hp

The harness has to be removed from the engine and the diodes uncovered/exposed to test each with an Ohm meter. When people (DIY and mechanics both) do not understand diodes and testing with a meter, that's when problems happen. I know many self-proclaimed "small engine mechanics" who know...

    Briggs and Stratton parts

If you buy B&S only for parts like this, you are paying for the marketing and packaging. All of the electrical components are purchased from outside suppliers and put in B&S packaging. I have used mostly eBay parts for many years as long as I could find them on there. Another good source is...

Briggs and Stratton Intek v-twin 20hp

I've seen many wasted parts thrown at equipment because of these inline diodes hiding in the harness. Not every manufacturer uses them and some only use them on certain models.
  27. A

Briggs and Stratton Intek v-twin 20hp

Inline diodes are like an electrical "check valve". They are made to allow current to only flow one way. The problem begins slowly with age, vibration and heat. The diodes will develop stress cracks and begin to leak current the wrong way. This is where ignition coils start feeding back on each...

    Blade alternative

Drop box wants a person to sign up and I'm not down with that. As for the brake, tighten the center nut on the apply bracket a quarter of a turn at a time and see how the brakes act. The stopping brake and park brake are the same mechanism on most of these. The pedal lock is what holds the...

    need a replacement engine for a ZT2352T

Try eBay. They show several used Kohler 23hp engines. I suggest going with a Kohler Command instead of a Kohler Courage if given a choice. The crankshaft dimensions is the most important factor, and they should be the same.

Anyone know what this part is?

Looks like a piece of automotive style edging trim called "edge welting". This stuff was used to cover welded panel edges on many older vehicles. It was also use in some machine applications to prevent people from being cut on metal edges from welded seams.

Kohler SV-601 - Fresh soot around crankcase closure plate

Hello G., Many people understand what happens inside the engine cylinder above the piston but never think of what happens below the piston inside the crankcase. Without a crankcase breather system, the displaced air inside the crankcase would build pressure and force air and oil out of every...

    E 15 Gasoliine

Hello G., It's the world's petroleum manufacturer's thinning out the gasoline fuel mix to make more profit per liter/gallon. Ethanol blended fuel has never been good for anything with an aluminum carburetor or regular steel fuel lines, because it attracts moisture from the air. This moisture...

Briggs and Stratton Intek v-twin 20hp

When you adjusted the valves did you notice if the exhaust valves were not opening as much as the intake valves? Late or lazy exhaust valve opening is a sign of a worn camshaft. Late exhaust valve opening will also contribute to the initial problem you described of popping back in the intake...

Briggs and Stratton Intek v-twin 20hp

I think the "140psi" on both cylinders number is fictitious or the gauge is broken. Was this cranking psi? The starter does not spin fast enough for that reading even with the throttle wide open.

Kohler SV-601 - Fresh soot around crankcase closure plate

A drop of red Loctite on cleaned bolt threads will help keep them from loosening. If they keep coming loose the main block will develop a stress crack and that would not be good.

Kohler CH18S Spec #62513 Simplicity Sovereign

The fuse holder is usually in machine harness and not on the engine. Here is a diagram of a similar model I found online through parts tree.
