I agree. Either crap in fuel tank or slowly failing coils. I have this exact mower at my shop right now from customer. Has sticking valves and won’t start/run and waiting for him to come pick this old antiquated hunk of junk up (been paid).

Did you original ignition coil fail? Is your premix fuel fresh? Have you checked the tank vent and fuel filter?

First you release bypass and work steering arms back and forth, then you take hydros out of bypass and work steering arms back and forth, then you take it off of jack stands and try mower under load on the ground.

The main fuel line “seals into the tank.” Does it not have a fuel petcock? If so, petcock is probably where the leak is.

You obviously need to try more than bumping engine over one time, unless you get lucky.

What is the Briggs model number of engine? How many aftermarket carburetors have you tried? When you say “none of the aftermarket carburetors have worked” , what exactly does that mean? Engine won’t start and run, starts and dies, hunting and surging?

Has this engine been sitting and never started for several years? Is the oil level good and have you smelled it to check for gas in oil?

Model numbers have been given in first post. Still having the issues because I have not been looking at these three zero turn mowers past week. Very busy time of the year. I will break out the multimeter and go for further testing.

Mechanical governor is not right. Try resetting the governor.

Model number sticker probably fell off. I spray glue on stickers to secure them when they are peeling off for customers.

Rebuilding a small Honda engine is not worth it cost or time wise. If you want to take the engine apart and rebuild it, and have never done this, there are plenty of videos, etc. that can help you.

Voltage drop is significant at about 4 to 6 volts. Using regular older style battery tester. Do have an infrared heat tester. Have only used it on mufflers when testing cylinders. Fuse holder is holding fuses nice and tight. Has a piggyback solenoid on the starter. Have not bench tested starter.

Removing the engine versus pressure washing the engine to locate the oil leak. Talk about trying to make the job more difficult and time consuming.

A few ounces of oil aren’t going to cause that much white smoke. Excessive blow by of oil due to worn valve seals and piston rings most likely. If it has enough power, run it and keep an eye on the oil level.

They usually last for many years.

You do have a timing mark on cam that needs to line up. Would not know if that is correct unless you open up the engine case. Most likely you have carburetor issue as long as everything else checks out. Thoroughly clean OEM carburetor and reinstall. Make sure intake gaskets are good.

When it comes to installing brand new tires, I go to Big O Tires and they put them on. New tires are too stiff to mess with. Used tires I can usually deal with. I have tried to install new tires by hand and it is impossible. I also use bead sealer after cleaning up the bead and it is very effective.

Spray with lubricant and use pliers and work fuel filter back and forth. Maybe use a heat gun if you have one.

Remove Schraeder valve from valve stem, use soapy water around bead, use two ratchet straps if needed. Try and try again until you get it. I resort to “flaming technique” if it doesn’t work.

I have read about this issue happening with grass packing in and causing the forward/reverse pedals to stick. However, have NEVER experienced it first hand. My friend who told me to check for grass debris buildup told me he sees this all the time.

Did the engine gradually start smoking, or all of a sudden when you started it one day? Rarely do Kawasaki engines blow cylinder head gaskets. More likely you have fuel in the oil. Change the oil. Other smaller possibility is worn rings or valve seals.

There should be a check/fill bolt on side of gearbox. Usually an Allen bolt.

Use your foot pedal to raise deck slightly as you are mowing. Much easier than trying to rig a smaller deck, shipping, trading, buying, selling, another deck.

I install fuel shut off valves on every piece of equipment I can that comes in my shop. This is for storing equipment for extended periods of time (months). Not because of the anti-afterfire solenoid.

Find the leak on the Kawasaki FH and fix it. If it can’t be fixed and is a small leak, then keep oil topped off and run it. Lots of small engines leak oil. You don’t do an engine swap over a oil leak, unless it is gushing out.

Chinese clone engines are fairly common on small equipment such as push mowers, tillers, snow blowers. However, when moving up in horsepower to 25 hp, etc. I would not recommend them. Kawasaki versus Loncin, LCT, Powermore, etc. is a no brainer. Chose the Kawasaki.

Plastic wheels mounted on metal axel. The plastic eggs out and causes the wheels to get wonky. New wheels, or bushings installed into the old wheels are the solutions. Installing the bushings and getting them in straight can be tricky.

Regardless of the brand, these trimmers are slow, cumbersome, and not used often because they are a bad way of trimming. Use a regular trimmer and get it done.

You can get many sharpenings out of a chain. The key is actually being able to sharpen a chain correctly. Either by hand or with an electric chain sharpener. When you start seeing smoke coming off the chain and bar when cutting, STOP. Your chain is dull. You are just pissing into the wind.
