I agree with Slomo on most things BUT when it comes to battery capacity (CCA's) and their effect on the starting system, I will always go with the most CCA's for the physical size of the battery. Its simple - more CCA's, the faster/better the cranking performance, the lower the starting system...

Trouble with intank filters is that you can't monitor their level of contamination /blockage and cleaning them is a messy pain in the rectum. In line gauze filters, with clear casings for easy inspection, are the best option, by far 😈

I have never put oil directly into the cylinder of a new engine - Remember, as soon as that engine fires/starts, any oil in the cylinder/exhaust/inlet will be burnt off - there will be significant smoke, which may make you feel good or not, as the case may be. 😈

I guess you mean the lack of adequate choke. Note: I have had an engine repair, where it would only run with the choke on - this is a classic carburettor blockage symptome. 😈
