U shaped belt guide

It is a little embarrassing getting on here without pictures. I can't load them onto the computer today? I think if I post this I can get back on and do it from my phone but hate typing into my phone, I am not 17. The mower was a gift not running in spring, tried it at my home and with some help here it ran all summer at my acreage near home, hated to lose the garage space at home. So last time mowing the U shaped piece made some clatter noise and I found it in trail. Thought I would see where it bolted up when I removed the deck, but I don't see where. This is a JD for Scotts probably about 2002 vintage. Let me post this and see if I can get back in on my phone and get some pics loaded.

Looks like the belt guide for the engine pulley.. Should mount just behind the pulley with the U shaped area on both side even with the pto pulley on the crankshaft stack pulley.

That is the deck drive belt hanger that attaches underside just behind the main engine drive pulley. These are used on lever type PTO operated deck drives and prevents the belt from jumping off when the deck is disengaged. Looking at the worn hole, it has been loose for a while.

Yes I saw where it mounted up and got it back on yesterday. I also put some corn muffin mix with baking soda under the hood to get rid of some mice before I covered it for the winter, they are hard on seats. Thanks for the help

Good luck to you with using bloating mixture.

Mice and Rats can be tough on eq. They sometimes get by my Kitty cats for awhile.
Inside my shops I built some live traps using 5 gallon buckets. Mice are usually still alive when I check the traps unless in cold winter they are frozen stiff.
Live traps help with reducing the sick of dead rodents.
