I'm missing something, my transmission as I'm mowing increases speed. I start at slow speed and the lever creeps to faster and faster speed. What should I be looking at?

At replacing the lever as it sounds like the detents are badly worn.

Turns out when I disassembled it the spring steel that engaged the detents was broken. So thank you!
